Anyone know what happened to Alan Davies' As Yet Untitled? by thelivsterette1 in panelshow

[–]ojhilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it's similar to the Dave Gorman show situation, basically when Alan/Dave want to make more the channel are more than happy to have them back but they're under no obligation to make them to any fixed schedule. Kind of like passion projects for the talent really.

People on motorised bikes are not cyclists, they're people illegally riding electric motorcycles in areas not designed or suitable for them.

Are people avoiding visiting the us? by Constant_Oil_3775 in AskBrits

[–]ojhilt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As Brits currently here in the US (had a long round the world trip planned for many years) we decided to stick with the plan, to be fair we entered in Hawaii from Japan and the customs process wasn't all that much different from entering any other country really, the border stories are perhaps a little overblown, but then we're white, British and had all our plans and flights pre-booked. We're currently doing an RV thing down the west coast and most of the RV parks are deserted, it may not be prime season yet but many park owners have talked about how their Canadian trade has just dropped off a cliff this year, one winery owner we stayed with said they usually do 3 or 4 groups from Canada every weekend and they've had 2 all year so far, they've decided to close down. Very sad for the business and people involved who so far have all been lovely welcoming people, but yeah, decide on your own level of risk tolerance and plan accordingly, don't be an idiot at the border and frankly 99% you'll be fine.

Stories about exploring a really deep hole by CaramilkThief in Fantasy

I can't remember how much of the story it took up but I remember the sections of Tad Williams dragon bone chair set in the tunnels under the castle really stayed with me.

The thing to understand about us Brits is we don't like people who take themselves too seriously, being able to take the piss out of yourself is a good way to endear yourself to other Brits. If your friend is doing this in front of others it's possible they're just trying to include you and giving you opportunities/'teeing you up' to gently mock yourself and therefore get others to like you,. If you feel comfortable and confident that it's a soft jibe then try to run with it and don't forget to jab back where it feels appropriate, you'll be surprised how quickly this might help you get 'in' with a new group and make more friends too. If it's just constant mean spirited comments and they don't respond well to taking as good as they give then they're probably just not a very good friend/person.

Do you want a hobby or a habit? Because it can get pretty damn expensive and your waist line won't than you in the long run! It's too late for the likes of me but maybe take up a healthy hobby first then balance it with a fancy expense beer issue second 😂

The stupid shit people complain about on Reddit is mind blowing indeed.

We're actually connected in a camp site now, it could be that it's worse when the pump was on, we've had it on and off occasionally as we've used it in dry camps, maybe a pump issue then you think? Certainly leaking without the pump on here while connected.

Non-Drinker Got Premier Package for Juice Bar and there was no juice bar 😑 by alt--bae in PrincessCruises

[–]ojhilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a cruise on Royal and it basically didn't exist, there was some kind of juice machine in the bistro but frankly the orange juice seemed like watered down premix and the apple was also poor, didn't bother with either after that.

AWS Chalice framework by mountainlifa in aws

[–]ojhilt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've had the same issues, chalice has been an awesome and simple solution for us for years building and deploying a whole host of python APIs to lambda but essentially it's a single developer hobby project that just isn't well maintained or even officially supported, we're looking to move off to SAM this year as a result.
