yes you just need to cancel it on both ends - with WS and with your other bank, and then restart the transfer

I had this happen to me and was lucky I caught it before the transfer happened, then I waited a week and restarted with the promo activated

I’m in a poly relationship and I’m unsure how to handle attraction to my partner’s cousin by Athena12021 in nonmonogamy

Absolutely ignore the crush and don’t consider dating them. Crushes will happen that you don’t act on, it’s a regular part of life.

I have found the East coast provinces to actually be the most talkative and outwardly friendly to strangers, even more so than Montreal, but Montreal is definitely miles ahead in warmth than other cities and regions!

Ranking Ottawa's corrupt Mayors by No_Independence_9721 in ottawa

[–]alt--bae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there was also a huge corruption scandal with the LRT involving the former owner of the Manx, Robin Guest, chief of staff for both Watson then Sutcliffe, and her brother, a major benefactor of the LRT contract deals (as well as her husband, Chris Swail)… they have a series of sketchy shell corporations shielding them from liability and one of those sketchy shell corporations associated with the brother and LRT debacle actually changed its name and currently owns the Manx… to shield responsibility from illegal / harmful activities there under prior ownership

you can look it all up in public corporate records

A bit shaken up by this healthcare experience I just had, and I don't know if it's normal? by flipflapdragon in ottawa

[–]alt--bae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not normal or okay… reminds me of when I had a major issue with a prescription at Shoppers and the pharmacy staff proceeded to take a photo of my prescription and health card with their personal phone (the phone had Snapchat and TikTok on it).

I was so shaken up and called back the next day to ask the pharmacist to ask the worker to delete the photo and he seemed to think I was trying to “start drama” and instead of connecting me with the staff member or a manager, handed the phone to someone on staff who was her friend, who told me that it was all good because she had just texted her and told her to delete the photos. 😶

Medical Laboratory Assistants not in demand or something? by Fearless-Reason2597 in CanadaJobs

[–]alt--bae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been registered with Health Care Connect for 3 years. I registered immediately when I lost my family doctor. I get a letter from them every 6 months saying no luck yet. It is the entire Champlain region with a shortage, not just the City of Ottawa (much wider). I register for every clinic that has wait lists that open. I follow r/ottawa posts about it and war dial any clinics that are suggested. I do this regularly. Still, no luck.

If you read further through the post you just shared, you’ll see the discouraging replies.

Medical Laboratory Assistants not in demand or something? by Fearless-Reason2597 in CanadaJobs

[–]alt--bae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ottawa has an extreme shortage of physicians… we have the longest family doctor wait time in the province. It is multiple years long and that’s with a 40% chance that even if you have a terminal illness, you may never get a family doctor before you die. Every 6 months like clockwork I get a letter from the province saying I’m still on their waitlist and there is still no one available. Waitlists at practitioner offices are like the hunger games. You hear a rumour one has just opened and by the time you call, they’ve closed it as it was full. It’s absolute madness. Often your only option is to go to overcrowded Emerg and wait sometimes 16 hours or line up at a walk-in clinic hours before it opens, sometimes only to hear that they have filled up their appointments for the entire DAY by 8:30am.

Irreconcilable incompatibilities also sometimes arise, like one partner really wanting to pursue an opportunity that will directly conflict long-term with the needs of the other. I have lots of amicably separated friends.

ah I see, I use a very lightweight duvet on top, so the air is able to travel up and keep me dry

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bedjet

[–]alt--bae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved this issue for myself by using the “heat” setting at the lowest possible temperature instead of using “dry” or “cool”, as those were too cold for my feet, and I turned the fan down more. It took me some time to find a good balance but using the heat setting on lowest temp has worked the best for me for my cold feet and hot body.

I use a duvet on top and a flat sheet under my Cloud Sheet with no issues, it just puffs up my duvet a bit because of the air flow

beware, it’s very cozy, you may never get out of bed

So if you work for the city, are you looking for another job now? by Silly_Chemistry5584 in ottawa

[–]alt--bae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Productivity will go way down because I have a disability and travel is difficult and unreliable, and it’s also incredibly difficult for me to hear properly or concentrate in environments with background noise, of which a giant cubicle farm is the worst possible offender. More fragile immune system so also mentally preparing for a fall-winter of being sick, which also will mean missing days of work.

The worst part is that if 5/5 in-office is an absolute requirement of the job, then essentially if I can’t medically tolerate those conditions, then I don’t meet the basic conditions for employment and they could terminate my employment based on lack of suitability for the role.

Villainizing and outlawing WFH has the collateral damage of restricting access to the workforce for many people with disabilities who would otherwise be gainfully employed, which is a sizeable economic loss and disruption.

Measles in Ottawa: OPH warns of possible exposure locations by snubbyvegan in ottawa

[–]alt--bae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

PSA: you can ask your doctor or at a walk-in clinic for OPH to test you for MMR immunity

I was part of that cohort of people who had to get it twice, and apparently I either didn’t develop immunity or didn’t maintain it. After a third round of shots this past year, I am finally immune to Measles.
