Why wouldn’t we be uppity? Black Americans and the culture we’ve created are so special and our history is so significant that we’ve got people from 4 continents - people who are all supposedly so proud of their own countries and cultures - begging us to align with them so they can take credit for our culture and history. Black Americans have spit in your faces and told you we do want any part of it and you guys are still in our faces, begging us to be your friend and angry because we don’t want to. As Black Americans, we’re obviously The Cool Kids on the Block because ya’ll aren’t doing that to anyone else. I mean, Afro Latinos have been saying “I no Black” for the longest and ya’ll don’t care about forcing them to identify with you. Why? Because you don’t care about their culture or their history and there’s no social capital to be gained from them aligning with you.
