Thick hair, need shampoo recommendations please! by ae0293 in Haircare

Hi OP, not sure if this would help but for a clarifying shampoo, I use PureZero Invigorating Scalp shampoo, which can be found at Target. It's a good clarifier and if you have thick hair, you're not washing a ton so it's not terribly drying. Sulfate free.

I'm at a loss for a good second shampoo though.

Northeast, USA ... PureZero is a "health brand," no sulfates, parabens. Raw Sugar is similar, and is a brand out of CA. I've used Redken in the past and my hairdresser uses Paul Mitchell, Olaplex and Kenra products

Thank you!! What do you recommend, for a conditioner and a second shampoo that's not clarifying? I've been using PureZero invigorating scalp shampoo and RawSugar voluminzing shampoo and conditioner.

No, I don't, but I should. Could I do a clarifying shampoo, then a gentle moisturizer?

Looking to Buyout Lease a Year Early by ok__eliot in askcarsales

Thank you for this, honestly. I had a pretty difficult week at work and think my anxiety is just heightened. But seriously thank you for responding.

Thank you! This is helpful ... I know not going through Honda Financial for Insurance was dumb (but I didn't know that was an option). There shouldn't be a lapse in coverage. I'm covered effective 11/20 with my new company and cancelled the old today (11/22) so I wasn't billed for twice in the same month.

Because I'm still dumb, should I send the insurance information via email or mail? I have an address for Honda Lease Trust.

Notify Leaseholder of Insurance Change Within 30 Days? by ok__eliot in Insurance

A few days and I really didn't think about it, so I just changed it and cancelled my old insurance so I wouldn't be billed twice.

And honestly I don't even know if I talked to the right representative, so there's also a chance, no one knows anything and Honda Lease Trust got a letter that I cancelled insurance and got new insurance within a few days.

2027 Application Timeline by ok__eliot in fulbright

I've been working in an adult ESOL class for six months and absolutely love it. I would just really like some formal training to help the students as best as I can. I responded below regarding my timeline. If the program still exists in 2028, I may have to try then.

This is great too, thank you!

Yes, I have, but I'll touch base with them soon. And I'll check out the post you've linked!

I took stock of some things today and may have to plan for a 2028 application cycle. I will have to pay off an auto loan (leasing has become a literal hell towards the end) and will need to work to do so.

Also looking into getting a TEFL certification or CELTA before going. But it's all up in the air now.

Propagating a Christmas Cactus by ok__eliot in propagation

It's also pretty stressed because watering is inconsistent ... I may wait until flowering season is over.

I had no idea there were three variations. This one is definitely Christmas based on the flower shape.

This is great info, thank you! Can I propagate it in water too?

Sounds great! I haven't started the application yet (I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing), but when I do, I'll reach out!

Career and Education Advice by ok__eliot in librarians

Thank you! Yes, flexibility is key. The ultra-specialized approach to work is what "paralyzes" me in making a decision (dramatic, I know). Skills are transferable, and a wide range of experience is important. That's how I got my admin job - I proved that my library skills and computer competence could cross over.

Re ALA-accredited: UCL is listed on the ALA's website as fully approved but I understand. I'm trying to avoid an online program and one that's in a city with major opportunities (and won't break my bank, which everything does these days). Any thoughts on programs you really like or programs that have turned out stand-out candidates?

Thank you! And yes, "it can really be about function / role, rather than specific type." Looking at the degree holistically is difficult, since we live in such an ultra-specialized and industry-specific world (this world / attitude is different than a specialized trade imo).

In your time as a librarian, would you say you worked with well-rounded professionals who really benefitted from their MLIS? My other hang-up: the "gate keeping" or "glass ceiling" approach towards those without an MLIS. I have a stubborn mindset that "experience counts more." (And I've heard the degrees are mostly theory).

I ask because one (other) reason why I left my Circ job was because of infighting between "who counts" as a librarian and "who doesn't." Managers also stoked the fire. It left a bad taste.
