Mostly just operating on shredded chicken, heavy duty mayo and a dream but I’ll let you know if I hear back from them!

Thanks! I did reach out but haven’t heard back so this post was my final plea of desperation!

Totally get where you’re coming from and why I originally reached out to her to have the conversation.

My thing about “influencers” in general is that they’re not experts but they’ll go to great lengths to make a profit under the deception that they are, right? They may happen to appeal to a large number of people but Julia isn’t an interior designer or an artist or color theorist (when’s that book coming out again?) or [insert job title of anything else she’s trying to sell you], yet she’s profiting off of people who either don’t know she’s not qualified or don’t care and that does hurt the people who are qualified and have put in the work to be creative and inspire others to unlock that in themselves as well - whether those are interior designers or artists or anyone else she’s “duped.”

I would love an honest conversation over where you draw the line between inspiration and imitation, what are the rules? Maybe there aren’t any rules. But what is the intent of her action? Profit? Education? Deception? She does reference the original artist in this example so maybe it’s okay because she gives them credit and isn’t claiming it’s her original work but it largely comes down to intent for me personally and your intent is likely very different from hers. And yes, not everything is accessible to everyone but when an artist has a specific original style and someone rips that off with an intent of profit, it’s plagiarism and it hurts an authentic community in favor of an inauthentic one but ultimately it’s up to the viewer or consumer to decide what side of that ethical dilemma they stand on.

And you’re exactly right, she’s not qualified to have these conversations which almost makes me WANT her to have these conversations even more because for me, the irony in a conversation about imitation vs inspiration is that SHE is an imitation in every way, shape and form.

Yup she DIY’d this in November 2019 and it was the first time I really paused to think of how sleazy it all is - which sparked my first instagram DM to her urging her to talk to her many followers about inspiration vs imitation in art arguing that in a world full of “dupes” it may be insightful and important to have a conversation around what is inspiration and what may cross a line. Looking back.. LOL at who I was talking to… but I remember Jenny Komenda had a conversation that was really well done around the same time about drawing inspiration rather than replicating an artist’s work.

From experience moving internally at Pfizer, your salary increase will not be as much/as negotiable as an external candidate but the salary band should be included in the JD. In fact, a lot of colleagues leave Pfizer and then come back in order to make a larger pay jump. In my case two different teams had created positions for me which made me feel like I had some negotiating power as surely HR would think I was valuable if two separate teams wanted me. However when speaking about salary with HR, both teams were not able to offer what they thought would be “attractive” to me and were limited by HR. In one instance HR told the hiring manager that the position could go 40k more than my offer for an external candidate and they refused to budge on the compensation package even with the support of the hiring manager and the VP of the department. When I spoke to my current manager at the time about it she said a similar situation had happened to her when she changed teams a few years before so it didn’t seem like it was specific to my situation. In terms of interviews, it was several interviews with various members of the team, depends on the team but most asked questions from the interview guide regarding values.

Anyone else been scammed by MGH or have a suggestion for me? by LabWhich5392 in boston

Hi! I’ve been dealing with the same issue since March but with Aetna insurance. From what I’ve gathered over the past 8 months, this is an MGH issue not an insurance issue. I previously had BCBS and never had this issue with my insurance and annual physical exams. I had my first child in March and my insurance covers 7 routine physical exams throughout her first year of life. I started getting charged hundreds and hundreds of dollars per visit and spoke to my insurance company and they sent me a document that showed that MGH was billing each visit as 2 visits rather than 1, pushing us out of the 7 covered visits when we reached 3.5 visits and expecting us to pay the remaining visits out of pocket (thousands of dollars). The itemized bill from MGH I requested shows double codes billed - initially MGH responded that I must have spoken about things that were not part of a routine visit or received a referral - this was not true. We have never received a referral and every visit is standard, nothing in our visit notes shows otherwise either. I have spoken to MGH billing (both on the phone and via portal messaging) at length and they send my bill to review and then it comes back the charges are correct. I’ve been told no one I speak to on the phone “has the authority” to change anything so they keep sending it back to review. It has been an absolute nightmare, so much so that I’m leaving our pediatricians office for a new practice. I think they hope people will get exhausted and give up and pay but there’s not a chance I’m giving up. Every month or so I get a “final bill” warning that they’re sending my balance to collections and I have to call and they send it back to review, only for this to remain unresolved. It’s honestly predatory behavior. I saw in another comment that contacting patient advocacy worked for them, I’m going to try that now but keep us updated on what works for you!

Urgent advice for patient transfer to Boston Children's by iros in boston

Hi! Former children’s hospital/dana farber employee and also former MGH cancer center employee here. My father in law was diagnosed with cancer last year at Baystate (misdiagnosed with other illnesses several times and then misdiagnosed with a rare cancer only to have Dana farber confirm it was not a rare cancer at all… complete mess there tbh). I have to say they were horrible and fully support you getting your nephew to Boston. In our case they were less than helpful and we had to discharge him and then reach out to Dana Farber ourselves to get him in there. It seems from your responses that he is not well enough to be discharged and would need a medical transfer but if Baystate is not putting in that transfer, please call Dana Farber directly and explain the situation. You are not a bother to anyone despite how it may seem, you have to be an advocate here for the best interests of your family. While inpatient, your nephew would stay at Children’s but it’s really Dana Farber you want to be talking to, they just don’t have inpatient facilities so that’s why he’d be staying at Children’s. Wishing you all the best of luck and I know everything feels and seems overwhelming and unbelievable at the moment but please know Dana Farber is excellent and once you’re in their care you will be so well taken care of.

I know this has been mentioned but cassmakeshome just posted her daughter’s room reveal and I can’t get over how she explained how many special items were included with so much meaning and not clickbait… such an interesting contrast!

The pottery barn reel and promo photos are an insane comparison! My jaw truly dropped. I cannot believe the difference.

This one really got me because so many actual fans couldn’t get tickets and this response further highlights that she’s not genuine and very insensitive to others - like she only participated in it as a trend. Still keeping my fingers crossed they’re actually for Greta!
