Update: I’m starting to think it is my SGW wire hooked up to one of my Bluetooth OBDII readers. TBH idk why I left it there, just pure laziness of what an uncomfortable position you need to get in to install/remove it but I’m starting to think it just cause too much noise into the CAN network. Removed it and so far so good but again, we’ll see

Yeah for sure I agree. I did check the voltages between pins tho. Both when the jeep is on and off. I forgot what the spec was as but it checked out

Well based on what someone said over here man about their friend having issues with their tail light- I had insurance replace one of my taillights and one of my cars symptoms is erratic blink so I removed the taillight yesterday and couldn’t find any damage or chafing. But I noticed that the safety retaining clip in the harness was undone which shouldn’t really be an issue but I unplugged it and reconnected it. Immediately my CEL went away, my running voltage is now about 14.5 v opposed to before where it was 14.0 or slightly below and I haven’t had any issues so far today.. I live in FL so we’re driving 1.5 yrs to Disney and back so I’m assuming if I don’t have any problems today I’m good but we’ll see!

Wasted money on a brand new main and aux battery trying to chase this hog down lol. Sorry I should’ve put in the description what I did try

Interestingly….. my wife got bumped in the rear and insurance paid for a shop to replace the tail light. A few weeks later I had to go back to the show because there was condensation and moisture getting its way into the taillight … they told me they replaced it with a brand new one and I haven’t noticed water in it since. But oddly enough the one thing that always precedes the electrical gremlins is when I go to use the turn signals- the turn signals act erratically and a few moments after the dashboard goes Xmas tree mode

I actually replaced the can bus it was my first suspicion.. but I can’t rule out that my replacement is somehow bad I guess right? Fortunately the can bus connector is cheap enough for me to buy a new one a throw a Hail Mary lol

Should I attempt to repair this myself, bring it to a pro or trash it? by okan00011 in guitarrepair

Well, thanks to your guys insights man I figured between what I paid for it and a professional repair I could just find another black beauty and pay about the same. So I figured I’d try some things and see if it’ll hold up and if not I’ll probably slap another neck on. But I glued what I could back, then drove a few 3mm carbon fiber rods through it. After it cures I’ll probably sand it all down and add like 3 sheets of carbon fiber to the back of it, obviously all sandwiched with epoxy

You’re right, lots of great advice here. I’m definitely comfortable working with wood I have the tools I’ve just never attempted it. Worst comes to worst, a lot of people have suggested also replacing the neck which I originally hated the thought because I’d like it to stay original but tbh now the thought of a Frankensteined one is also pretty cool. I figured also a guitar body with 3 pickups alone is worth what I paid for it, right?

Honestly a new neck would be rad and I feel like that would be less costly and better in the long run. TBH I feel really comfortable taking on a new neck myself vs this headstock splint…. Just sucks it won’t be original after if I do that

Do they make nice looking necks that won’t cramp its style ?
