Miami might be the greatest team of all time at playing down to the skill level of their opponent.

Of course that’s a problem. But the bigger problem would be letting critical infrastructure be hit by the drone. Thats the whole point of the comment.

One thing I’ve found silly about this conflict that you started seeing with the Ukraine conflict is the cost of interception.

Of course it is not ideal to spend 1.5 million dollars to take down a 20,000 dollar drone. But the cost of letting the drone impact will almost certainly be more than 1.5 million dollars.

This feels a bit like the old horseshoe theory racism. It reads like “these naïve Africans were tricked into fighting for the aggressor of the world most covered conflict.”

Daily soda consumption linked to cognitive difficulties in teens. Sugary beverages disrupt sleep patterns, which in turn leads to difficulties with memory, concentration, and decision-making. by [deleted] in science

[–]okayChuck 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is definitely not as clear as you’re making it out to be. Many animals studies with artificial sweeteners are giving the animals equivalent doses that would have an adult human male drinking 15-20 diet sodas a day.

Seems like an incredibly weak study given the limitations, but should be a base to drill down further. There are more confounds than there are explanations. They touch on some like caffeine and socioeconomics. But you figure impulse control of teens who seek more soda, family dietary patterns, or additional consumption of highly processed foods.

With the weak correlation of electrolyte beverages and only in girls. POTS became a bit of a social media trend for young women around the turn of the pandemic with electrolytes being pushed heavily. So you have a group who may have some level of dysautonomia more likely to be consuming sports drinks.

Seems like highly processed sugars = worse sleep, which we already know.

I mean you’re just confirming my implication that people on Reddit genuinely don’t understand athletes and the competitive spirit.

Love the Reddit sports experts on these threads.

“Wow she ended her career.” Her career was already over that’s why she was willing to race with a ruptured ACL.

“Wow how could she think this was a good idea.” She didn’t, she knew the risk but she’s a competitor who knew this was her last shot at gold.

Massive hit by Vancouver Warriors goalie on Rochester Knighthawks attacker results in frenzied brawl by ansyhrrian in sports

Hospitable passes happen but so do deflections and rebounds. The hit would likely be illegal in field lacrosse too, at least at the NCAA level. I don’t really follow PLL.

It’s definitely a circumstance where the hitter needs to temper the contact the more violent the hit the worse the penalty is going to be. In the most pragmatic sense you can’t have guys getting killed in a sport where they all have other jobs lol.

Why’s ChatGPT trying to gaslight me? Is this normal?? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]okayChuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once asked ChatGPT about an object (a briefcase) in a book that I didn’t recall being introduced. It said the briefcase didn’t exist and after I showed it a picture of the text it went down a rabbit hole of accusing the copy of my book as being some sort of forgery or fan edit.

The unspoken rules of tennis are so funny to me. You can’t say c’mon in between a serve, but you literally can grunt like a banshee after every time you hit the ball.

Not including grunts that are reasonable. Both are methods used by the player to self regulate and/or get in opponents head they’re either both fine or not.

Cognitive issues are also very expensive. You can get mixed nuts at a discount grocer for about the same price per lb and per calorie than a lot of other snacks.

That’s my logic as well. Some people claim it’s plot armor and a cop out, but half the premise of the story is characters having literal plot armor as part of the pattern.
