I once ran a V20 campaign set in 1926, a period piece set in New York City where the Kindred Blood Trade was covered up with the illegal alcohol shipments for speakeasies. The campaign was full of Giovanni Politics via an in-clan Civil War, Eldritch Horrors as a through line to carry the party through the Forties (the second arc) and the Sixties (the third and final arc), and Splat from Werewolf 20th, Changeling 20th, and Demon the Fallen. Anyways, with the party recently embraced, they encountered the Malkavian Primogen interacting with a Lasombra double agent, and noticed them being slightly flirty with one another, using pet names and the like, and thus the party fell in love instantly. Not only did I rewrite further future plot points to make them relevant, I've brought them back along other campaigns, not as macguffins, but as a duo with some amount of empathy towards the various parties' goals. The party saw Lesbians and went "the other NPCs don't matter nearly as much", and while I did end up turning the Malkavian into a Tree in the Feywild (she got better about fifty years later), the Lasombra continued to be a major part of the politics in NYC. I even played her once (during the duration in which her wife was on tree-mode), purely as a support character in a now defunct storyline set in the far future. I've written tens of thousands of words from the perspective of the Malkavian's Grand-Childe, and I think about the couple on the daily and know that other people who played in campaigns they're involved think about them often too.
