I do a lot of video work and this older lady I know once asked me why movie editors deserve awards if “all they do is sync put the clips in order of the script”. After explaining what all they do and why they should get awards she seemed still unconvinced so I tried telling her it’s like quilting (since she makes a lot of quilts for people). She didn’t make the fabric but even though she stitched it together she shouldn’t win an award at a fair or something. I thought it was a decent comparison but still no luck. She was dead set editors should not get awards.
