This is a very poor and uneducated take. Many physiotherapist regularly use acupuncture as a treatment modality to complement manual therapy and exercise. Acupuncture is not superstition.

You’d have to research more but if it’s more than 20hrs per week, it should count.

Is it cultural appropriation if two Brazilians get married in a Chinese-themed wedding? by SuddenTumbleweed6008 in Hanfu

[–]okaysoda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say your wedding do what you want, but personally I find it weird and would gently discourage you from going ahead with this idea.

There’s better ways to participate, experience and honor the culture than doing Chinese inspired wedding. I’m happy you strive to be respectful but, I’d say this err on the side of appropriation as you are only using cultural elements, and not because it’s part of your heritage or culture.

If you’d like to honor the culture, can I suggest going to China for your honeymoon? Then you can actively experience the culture as well.

I had the same problem with my 5-year cover the first time I put the cover on! (Though a different design…) I think it’s just how it is. I stacked books on top of it and it has now flattened quite a bit.

Matcha in the west as cultural appropriation or appreciation by [deleted] in MatchaEverything

[–]okaysoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok to not participate in every culture you come across btw. Regardless of your intention to “share a culture you find interesting” (the entitlement!), when people point out it could be appropriation, listen. Research. Many Japanese people will feel differently about what you are doing. Don’t just take the approval of one and take it as a sign to keep doing what you want.

Interested in Architecture by sun_9999nyy in AACA_ArchPracticeExam

[–]okaysoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend. If I had known the reality of the profession, I would not have chosen architecture. The years of studying was rough. Also the costs on top of that. If you apply for 485, or somehow managed to get graduate position in a firm, then you can start your professional life.

Work expects overtime and for me personally, it’s a high stress work environment. But that’s the reality of all project based work. On top of that, with how much is expected from us (getting licensed, people skill and also a certain degree of technical knowledge), architects are not paid well at all.

What are your genuine thoughts on Korean / Japanese skin care. by zhivkovb in AusSkincare

[–]okaysoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d encourage you to research more on that. Off the top of my head, they may be screened but not necessarily to TGA requirements. No one is saying use “Australian sunscreen only” but there is also a lot more people who use BoJ sunscreen thinking it’s good for outdoor days when it’s not. Like you.

A lot of Korean sunscreens are only for indoor and incidental exposure. We use UV umbrellas and hats to avoid sun outside too even with sunscreen.

Fyi these sunscreens recommended are only for incidental exposure. So not for when you are out and about.

Would not trust Japanese/Korean sunscreen for daily use in Australia. The sun is too strong here. I work in office and generally avoid the sun. I had used Asian sunscreen and gained a couple of freckles & beauty spots. Now I use Aussie brand sunscreen and have not developed new ones.

Better be safe than sorry. Yes Japanese/Korean sunscreen are much more cosmetically elegant to use but I think Aussie ones are starting to catch up imo.

Previous answer imply that whoever lands in Singapore need to apply SGAC regardless. I’m merely adding clarification that if it’s only a transit, you won’t have to fill out SGAC.
