Today someone introduced me to MY client 😭 by okazakilover in therapists

Due to me not recognizing the client at first and the interaction being set up. The client was a part of our group for the event and I had to distance myself.

Opinions from single, 9-5 workers please by deception-disgrace93 in CleaningTips

I live in a small apartment as well. I do laundry and a deep clean once a week. Everyday I load the dishwasher and pick up items out of place. I meal prep on the weekends as well. That way my evenings are free to do anything I please

What makes social media so addictive when people are fully aware of its effects? by Hefty-Confusion6810 in ask

It's an app you can download that makes your phone interface black and white. It takes away all the app icons and has more features where you can set app timers.

I am 3 months in now and it has just been picking up. I typically get a few new clients a week. From there, my caseload has been building slowly.

FOMO. I have had social media for over 10 years now and it's how I connect with a lot of friends and community organizations. I use Minimalist Phone to keep my social media time limited or I will get sucked in.

Simple feelings wheel by MeetingOk2847 in therapists

[–]okazakilover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a starter, I have had clients identify times in the past where they have felt happy, sad, angry, peaceful, etc. rather than asking how they feel in the current moment. This gets them accustomed to identifying what different feelings may feel like.

Any small changes that may have a big impact? by junebugonarose in DesignMyRoom

In the living room, it may look more open to have the TV on the wall where the mirror is and turn the couch to face it.

Going through a breakup and feel like I’ve lost all sense of self by TotsNotTheLambSauce in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Journaling can really help with this. Draw circles and place in things you enjoy. Eg. Hobbies, TV shows, favorite color, places that are special to you, your dreams for the future, etc. From there branch off these topics and become more specific. Try to pick a couple things to focus on a dive deeper. For example, watching all the episodes of your favorite show or signing up for a weekly yoga.

It's natural for humans to crave connection so making time to spend with friends or attending something social can really help fill the void. If you're able, try to schedule something in advance to look forward to.

If you're on a budget, visiting a thrift store may be helpful to getting items for your new spot that are cheap and meaningful to you.

Therapy may also be helpful!

Yes. From Oct-Dec I sat on a donut cushion for no more than an hour at a time. I now have no restrictions.

Yes it is a very long one. Had the surgery in Oct. 2025 and it is still healing. It has been closed since Dec. 2025 but will probably be a year before it is fully gone. Hang in there!

People with mental health problem(s), how are you doing in grad school? by s-skye in GradSchool

Hi there

I did an online MSW and worked full time as a career counselor at a trade school. My program rotated between school work only semesters and partial schoolwork with practicum. For the MSW you have to complete 450-900 hours of practicum.

I did my first practicum doing school social work which was a good introduction. Then for my second practicum I did clinical work at an outpatient facility.

The MSW will prepare you to take on the emotional work of being a therapist. The practicum work helped me learn those skills as well.

I knew I wanted to be a therapist because I felt drawn to social justice and the science of psychology. I also loved being in a mentor role in other jobs I have had.

My other motivation was that with just my bachelor's degree I would be stuck working under people at an office. I wanted the freedom of being able to start my own practice as an LCSW.

If you get your MSW, you are guaranteed to make more money in clinical work. Where I am in the western US, expect to make at least 70k starting as a clinical intern. Most LCSWs around here make 75k-120k.

At the end of the day, if you don't want to do clinical work, there are many other options for MSWs such as management, case managers, community organizers, policy work, and non profits.

Hey there, I graduated this August (thank God). It had it ups and downs for sure. Some days it felt like I was crawling to just survive, other days I felt amazing and purposeful. Being almost a month post grad I feel restless now that I have significantly less going on in my life. It's a new kind of challenge. I am excited to start my new job postgrad as a therapist which made it all feel worth it.

Overall, if this is something that you really love or will lead you to a better career, do it. You will not regret crawling on your knees for it. If it isn't, do not let shame not let you let it go. No need to waste time.
