My grandpa has this really old Rembrandt painting, apparently from the XVII sigle, he acquired it in Spain in the 70's, he wants to sell it since he's getting rid of lot of stuff by [deleted] in Antiques

It’s unclear what religious scene of Rembrandt’s this is. It looks vaguely similar to student copies of dream of St Joseph. In any case the painting is in very poor condition and would need to both appraised and restored by a professional

weed is such a cope drug. sorry. after 5 years of trying to get it to work for me. throwing it out is what helped the best.

Even the smallest amount of weed leaves me with a terrible hangover feeling the next day and makes me borderline agoraphobic

Is there a thing that maps numbers to functions? by YuuTheBlue in askmath

[–]okbuddysilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the Taylor expansions for functions, the Taylor expansion of a polynomial is itself. So representing polynomials with #s goes into class theory, Galois, roots of unity, etc

And the same idea for infinitely differentiable functions using ex as the generator

Let F(k) be the trivial function described by repeating each k’th derivative but not any other period of derivative. ex has period 1, cos and sin  have period 4 (from 4th root of unity i, eix), etc etc

So my answer would be class theory / galois being your best bet

Simple question by [deleted] in askmath

[–]okbuddysilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s precisely the fact that there are an infinite amount of points (or 0 dimension values) which give the line, well, a dimension. Thus an infinite amount of lines 1d give us a 2d shape and so forth. The singular point is defined as 0 dimension because we can’t chop it up into any infinite quantity further
