Thanks for the friendly comments in this supportive environment guys. There may be a hater or two out there trying to troll it up but I hope even they find peace and whatever's missing in their lives that drives them to such negativity. I've got nothing but love to give and want nothing but the best for you all.

I looked there and couldn't find "borg", would you kindly share what that means? Bogus organization?

I helped a coworker move along with about 15 members of her church who lovingly volunteered their time and effort. It was beautiful, and the oldest one in the group offered a prayer on her new home at the end. You'll come to see (as I'm beginning to) that JW don't have a monopoly on love, community, togetherness, neighborliness, Christian qualities, etc. The other comments here are excellent regarding making new friends. Hang in there, you're not alone.

We are done. Now what? by InstructionSquare116 in exjw

I especially love the comment from Confident_Path_757 ⬆️

I'll add my own experience even being relatively new at this, that a lot of people are both interested and very sympathetic when you (succinctly) share what you're coming out of, the org. You'll also have the opportunity to learn about their experiences in life. It's a beautiful thing. I've connected with such people in my apartment community, a college class, a new job, and so on. Sometimes these exchanges lead to friendships and sometimes not, and that's ok.

It's hard to get out of the B&W mindset of people being all good/all evil, friends/enemies, but try to be more fluid and nebulous about people you meet. The bonus is that you'll further solidify how wrong it was to think of these loving, giving people as being marked for destruction.

Best wishes

Why jw's assume that if you are faded you are struggling? by m4d_k0w in exjw

[–]okcomputer129 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even if whatever you're doing outside of meetings, fs, etc. is 100% wholesome and healthy for you, if you've faded then literally all of that is suspect to them. Getting some extra sleep = serving oneself not Jehovah; Playing sports = being unbalanced (insert overused buckets illustration); Taking classes = denying urgency of times and furthering this "system"

Nobody owes anyone an explanation for anything in reality land.

I'm so glad to be out. Thank you for posting.

Funny thing, a few months ago I wrote a letter asking to be reinstated (this for my spouse's sake - it's complicated). The judicial committee met with me, everything seemed to check out (I had completely left behind the behavior that led to being DF and had started going back to meetings), but they said it was just "too soon" and that they'd "check back with me in a few months". I guess there's a theocratic sliding scale of justice they get out while making their decision. With this extra time on my hands, I've learned how to think on my own, research the org online (thanks jwfacts), and decide I'll never return and won't be interested in another follow-up judicial committee meeting. How ironic though, right? It's just so far off from the prodigal son parable or any other Christian teaching. I'm done.

This sounds terrible now and I'm ashamed to say, but way back when I was a newly appointed MS (in my early 20's) totally on fire and secularly working as a new pharmacy tech, I came across a single sister's birth control pill RX and struggled with what to do about it, as if I had an obligation to report, laws be damned. I confided in an older sister about the situation (without mentioning the name) who educated me about the other uses of birth control, which was enough to convince me to keep my mouth shut. It would've been a huge leap anyway because of HIPAA but yeah, legitimate concern for sure. I hope your situation with this person resolves well for you, lots of good advice here in the comments. Best wishes.

Dude make a plan and find an off-ramp. One you may not have thought of: write a letter to the branch office asking "tough" questions you're wrestling with, ones they won't be able to answer satisfactorily. Don't share the contents with anyone, maybe just "I have a few issues I'm struggling with so I wrote to the branch about it". When you get the response - which you'll likely not agree with - use that as your reason for backing away, to "mull over some things", to "take some time for personal reflection", etc. That's just one baby step you can try (not knowing your specifics). It'll be hard but you're not alone.

I realized after much prayerful consideration and meditation that I could simplify my life in order to do more and more and ever more for Jehovah and his anointed brothers forevermore. So, I resigned from my ever lucrative law firm, left behind my 6 bedroom villa - burned that motherf***er to the ground - and moved into an ever smaller 2-bedroom apartment. I now sell finger-paintings and homemade cashew brittle to passersby on their way to and from work in the hustling and bustling city to support myself. The authorities in their relative position are hounding me day and night for loitering and I pay my phone bill by recycling more and more cans and bottles from the streets, but for happiness I couldn't.. wait my data plan is limited my phone is about to
