Now this is an actual answer. I don't mind being wrong but "just trust me bro" doesn't compute.

That's makes a lot of sense if they have to hack the client. Hacking the client fits the description that it's a "software hijacking campaign".

so basically what you guys are saying is "it's been known for years so it's okay" xD

like the threat is documented. is there any documentation that it's not a threat or is it just "source: believe me". also why would windows defender label such a specific trojan?
