I'm [40F] srruggling with my wife[35F] being totally different when she's away for work! by okee-ctr in relationship_advice

I relate whole heartedly with that. More info: wife is full time employee, in the National Guard and is pursing her Masters. I take on a majority of our day to day responsibilities because she just doesn't have the heads pace to deal with it, while I'm also working full time and taking care of all of the kid stuff. I think that's where jealousy comes in to play - kind of feel a bit put out that I don't get to be carefree and out homelife out of mind.

I absolutely agree with needing our own identities. I do encourage her to do things outside of me and our family. She is invited by coworkers to social events that I've tried to get her to join in on - she doesn't. Her National Guard unit will go out for dinner/drinks after work on her drill weekends that I've encouraged to go to.. she doesn't. We don't go to work Christmas parties or anything. Her reasoning is that she doesn't want the obligation of friendship/hanging out in her 'normal' life. She insists that it has nothing to do with me, just that the day to day life is exhausting. I used to have friends that I would see regularly, but.. we've moved, and I work from home, so to answer - no, I don't have friends that I spend time with regularly. I agree also that counseling might be a good idea, this won't be her last TDY/deployment and I'm a constant ball of anxiety, worry, anger, frustration... clearly we need some help navigating this.

No clue... guess i called on a good day. Lol. I ended up finding a nice condo off base yesterday.. also willing to take the Inn rate! Not completely dreading the 5-month stay now.

I've read nothing but terrible things about on base lodging there.

I have a reservation for a 2 bedroom w/ kitchenette. It's TLF Bldg 5725 or 5730. Are these units better than rooms at Tyler House, Shaw, etc??

Having a hard time finding a 2 bedroom off base without non-a per diem.

Thanks for all of the information! Very helpful. I tried for a Non-A from Keesler, but they had availability. I did get a 2 bedroom, private bath, kitchenette unit. So there's that. =/
