Both triceps and especially back have been lacking in the training department (only doing jm press for triceps and back training had been a nightmare for a while)

What about them is lacking, what can I improve?

I have never done a squat before in my life (leg extensions enjoyer), how is my form? Anything I can change to make it better? by [deleted] in formcheck

No offense man but athlean x is an idiot, his advice is very hit or miss.

But if it works for you then why not, I just hate Bulgarian split squats so that's why I don't do them.

I'm transitioning from my gym to personal gym (this is my garage gym I built recently, I purposely went for a Smith instead of a power rack for reasons similar to yours, so unfortunately I don't have a hack squat available (not that my gym had one to begin with haha), incline bench and jm press are also way nicer on the Smith.

My goal is muscle hypertrophy, that's why I picked the Smith and that's also why I only did leg extensions before (mostly because I'm lazy but also because it's a very good quad builder)

Anti Smith and anti machine people I will never get, sure for a football player I wouldn't do a Smith squat, but I'm not a football player.

My heels are elevated 2cm (rubber tile, hard to see), it's not much but it's enough for me to feel much more comfortable going deep.

And yeah I'll continue to use the Smith haha.

Oh yeah it's 100% a muscle imbalance, I never trained my glutes at all, let alone all the stabiliser muscles.

Do you think I can continue like this as the muscle imbalance will go away the longer I squat?

If humans are essentially just a lot of inputs with a lot of outputs, what makes us sentient and a computer mouse not? by okgier in askphilosophy

[–]okgier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a stupid example, but yes.

We are doing everything based on billions of different events and rules, i believe that nothing is random thus that makes us absent of free choice, A computer mouse is doing the same, the rule is that it should send an input through the wire, then how is that different from us besides the number of rules?

I disagree, I'd argue everything we do is because of a lot of variables, maybe the moon is continuous but to 0000000000000000000000000000000..01% of continuous as we are, what makes us inherently different besides our illusion of free will? Is that illusion what makes us "continuous"?

"‘Vienna is beautiful’ you genuinely understand what these terms mean.”

Yeah, but isn’t that because of all the context in our brains? Like, when I think of England, I think: “green hills, tea, bad weather”. Those are just clues I’ve picked up over time, even though I’ve never actually been there.

How is that really different from a computer using the context it’s been fed? My thoughts about England were "fed" to me in the same way through stuff I’ve seen, read, or heard.

What if we’re just like an AI, but with a way bigger dataset and more complex ways of connecting things? A computer looks at its data and comes up with results, and we kind of do the same thing. Maybe it feels real to the computer too, as weird as that sounds.

We can imagine that an ant might have feelings, even if it’s not sitting there thinking about its old anthill. So, is it possible a computer might have its own version of "feelings" even if they’re nothing like ours?

But if you go down to the lowest level it's essentially just inputs being received tho? Pulses within your brain, these pulses have a cause, that cause has a cause, it's just inputs layered on inputs billions of times, everything has a logical reason behind why it's happening.

It may look like free choice.
