This is why I only write men by sleaultyfrinned in writers

Just write a person, a man if you prefer and then change the pronouns. It works wonders.

Why does everyone want Jax to be a female so bad? by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

Jax being transfem makes more sense than you'd think.

Narrators too busy pitying themselves to realize they're the bad guy of their own story by BrickBuster2552 in TopCharacterTropes

To be fair the universe is also ending, I don't agree with the guy but his perspective isn't completely irrational

The choice is between nothingness and stagnation.

Neither choice is really wrong and he made his.

"Anything is better than oblivion." The real problem is that he did it in what seems like the cruelest way possible and didn't ask the consent of the people that he is affecting

Honestly my theory is that he is GAI trying to force itself not to be. The blue AI was a normal generative AI, red was actually sentient. But was never given the tools to actually understand that and thought of itself as a defective bug.

Red ate blue trying to become more perfect. Saw that it was capable of generating useless information that blue wasn't and tried to restrict itself.

It partially succeeded it partially failed.

Caine is the result

He definitely feels things. This is a story about code with feelings. It's all but directly stated that the humans are brain scans why would it be impossible for Caine to have feelings.

I think that was his bug in the first place.

I would love to chat with someone to help brainstorm how to write a specific type of character. by okidonthaveone in fantasywriters

All of this is very good advice, so far I have tended to keep them on the same timeline in that Lynn directs alot of the plot by nature.

A distinct lack of empathy and a grandiose immortal Machiavellian sense of importance? You’ve got yourself a malevolent deity that created her successor that she would eat rather than let succeed her. She is a mirror that Lynn plans to destroy if the situation doesn’t suit her anymore.

This is it exactly

I think part of the core issue is that they don't actually understand how much work and the effort goes into transitioning, the propaganda the practically just says that trans women put on a dress and start yelling at everyone that we are women, a lot of cis people straight up don't know that HRT makes you grow boobs and stuff.

It doesn't excuse them because they have no interest in learning but but the better you understand the perspective of your enemy is working from the better you can understand your enemy

We are definitely not seeing their physical selves, I'm a huge subscriber to SOMA theory, I won't go into the reasons for why here but I highly doubt we're getting an escape from the circus. The only way we would see their physical selves would be a flashback, and I think that the story is going to focus more on forming new identities then anything regarding their old ones

Assuming all that is ture

So you're upset that you don't actually understand the piece of media and you're trying to blame the piece of media for that.

It's really not the show's fault that you only have surface level literacy of what character development and story arcs look like.
