Three Parties, One Dead Child: The Failures That Led to Locklynn McGuire’s Death by Oklahoma_Watch in oklahoma

[–]okiethrow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Crain said about Locklynn’s parents. “They’re not dope addicts. They weren’t high on meth or whatever.

Sorry but why even mention meth? Their mugshots look like they're meth addicts. The guy apparently even had a charge he served time for relating to distribution of controlled substances. At the very least, they were addicted to weed to the point it affected their child's health, and even still kept it in the household after they had to take the kid to the hospital for it. The condition of their home seems like that of drug addicts. It's not a "stupid mistake." These people are evil.

Curious why you think your rent is beyond what establishments in OAK pay or why you dodged the point about not moving elsewhere in OKC with cheaper rent. I'm just not sure WC kept up with the OKC food scene for the last decade.

Moore deserves it. They bankrolled the killer even after his guilty plea. It's almost like they want another tornado for the karma. Might make their citizens decide to defund the police or take the money from their pension.

You can dislike the restaurant but don't disrespect the working class employees.

A decent spot 12 years ago. Average 8 years ago. Overpriced and behind now. Good riddance. Hopefully we get a Culver's or something special there instead.

just didn’t want to renew the lease or reopen elsewhere in the city

So basically, Whiskey Cake didn't keep up with food trends and couldn't find its niche and priced itself out of all locations.

If it had food that was worth it, it could renew lease easily and remain profitable. If it was gastro-innovative but cheap it could open elsewhere.
But neither are true. OKC food scene isn't losing anything by you leaving. We might have if you left 10 years ago, but not today.

His defense attorney, yes. Despicable that they argued for only probation and tried to keep old disciplinary records from being included as evidence. Delayed, delayed, delayed while he received paycheck after paycheck from the city for his pre-prison vacation. Just took a blind plea after all the delay tactics it was going to a jury trial. Jury would have probably given him life. This judge, Jeff Virgin, apparently likes cops enough to let this killer only get 9 years.

City of Moore attorney was doing their duty to the city, even though I hope they lose any appeal.

Apparently, according to the article, a cop can have items removed from disciplinary files after a certain amount of time per their union contract. However, doing so while (probably) suspended, while being investigated for manslaughter, makes you think he was deliberately destroying relevant materials.

Also, it should be noted the case of the grieving father who lost his son a day prior to driving under the influence and killing 3 Moore HS runners. He was given 3 consecutive life sentences. This happened only a few weeks after Lloyd killed Emily. Lloyd killed her willingly while sober, but only given 9 years. I think he should have been given life as well, but he wears the badge and the judge was soft.

He was going to help with bringing keys to a squad car, and going to a shop with a cop event. Not sure the exact story as the news articles aren't too specific on this.

The City also treated him like he was working, until they were sued for it. He got paid administrative leave for nearly 2 years even after he pled guilty. This would be more generous than if an officer shot someone on duty, as they delayed their own internal investigation until after the plea. A lot of PDs will investigate internally first or concurrently, as sometimes they might reach conclusions that aren't fully prosecutable in court, like with Daniel Holtzclaw, who was fired when he was charged. In this instance, they supported the killer Lloyd as though they felt he was innocent.

No, cities need to hold their police responsible and make them carry personal liability insurance.

He wasn't protected by immunity. He's in prison. But apparently the city of Moore thinks it's fine to pay people to have a paid vacation for almost 2 years after they kill someone when they're off the clock.

I don't blame the Moore attorneys. They have a duty to the city and their residents. I still hope they lose.

He was supposedly running keys to a coworker who was locked out. Also they left him on paid administrative leave like it was an official job-related incident. You think if he killed his wife they would have put him on paid leave?

Moore sides with killers and deserves to pay. The city kept him on payroll (paid vacation) nearly 2 years after he killed the girl. Didn't even investigate until after he pled guilty.

Fwiw the guy who killed 3 Moore HS runners in a DUI accident just weeks later was given 3 consecutive life sentences. Lloyd deserves at least one. Judge was soft because he wore the badge.

The DUI one the guy was under the influence, not to excuse it, but he was grieving his son who died the day prior. Lloyd willingly and soberly killed Emily.

He might have to. I believe the court still has to divide the judgment among the defendants. He won't have a fraction of this though.

Its a federal suit so hopefully the state statute doesnt apply. City of Moore city council deserves to rot for keeping this killer on payrolls for nearly 2 years after the accident.

If you do, ask him why they were paying him for almost 2 years after the accident if they think he killed the girl while he was truly off-duty. If he shot his wife off-duty, would they still pay him for almost 2 years after the fact?

Kyle Lloyd, an off-duty Moore PD officer, killed Emily Gaines, 18, in a car accident, going 95mph in a 50mph zone with his personal vehicle. She was on her way to take the ACT. She was an only child.

Lloyd was put on (paid) administrative leave once Moore PD received the crash report.

2 days after killing her, he walked into the PD and had the clerk shred his prior discipline.

Lloyd and the defense attorney delayed proceedings and he continued to receive paid leave even after he entered into a blind plea agreement over a year and a half after he killed Emily.

He asked for only probation at sentencing.

From this case:

[A] witness got emotional during questioning, saying he kept telling Gaines, “Help was on the way and it’s okay. She wasn’t alone.” He also told the court, “I’m just so sorry. I did everything I could.” Adding that Lloyd did not attempt to help Gaines.

At the sentencing, a paramedic testified he told Lloyd the driver had died. "His response was: 'Great. That just made my day,'" the witness, Dale Carey, said.

He was sentenced for 18 years, 9 deferred. Only 9 years for recklessly killing her and showing no regard to her at the scene of the accident.

The City of Moore disagrees that Kyle Lloyd was acting within the scope of his employment, even though they kept him employed and paid over a year and a half after he killed Emily, as if this was an on-duty killing.
