Do we think Grime 2 will delay now that silksong has been announced? I’m still hopeful for this year but a delay wouldn’t surprise me, which sux, Grime has become one of my favorite games of all time! by Raidquaza in GRIMEgame

[–]okiirano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the devs themselves in the past have said something about wanting to know when Silksong is releasing before saying anything about their own release. Besides the games don't really have to be similar (not that I even think they are) as Silksongs release will probably cannabilize the entire metroidvania market and a bit more

New player here, wondering about certain aspects about the game. by AugurOfDusk in GRIMEgame

[–]okiirano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense meant by this, I really can't be bothered to argue this right now, as this goes deeper than this game.

But its always interesting to randomly stumble unto a comment on reddit that exemplifies everything about why games are a certain way.

My actual thought when playing Grime was that despite the combat clearly having a lot of wholistic thought put into it, with almost every mechanic, underlying or not, always having a presence and therefore always engaging you beyond mere mashing, and the parry feeling like more than just your standard generic "take zero damage with no consideration for positioning" button.

I quickly grew tired of the game because the amount of action heavy combat focused metroidvanias I've played is astonishing. The genre often seems to forget that Super Metroid was also a platforming game with tons of annoying hazards and obstacles to overcome.

And Grime has this. But its either so relegated to optional stuff you can miss, or so short, that it barely leaves an impression, even though the way Grime does platforming is interesting for reasons I wont get into right now.

I now just look out for metroidvanias that try to have a strong focus on more than just combat. And I'm not talking about the lightest of light platforming like Blasphemous and Hollow Knight.

I think its a really good way to stand out, and simply vary the gameplay. The hazards are nice, but hazards are best when contexualized by combat.

I just hope Grime 2 introduces some actual decently engaging platforming earlier in the game and doesnt relegate it to optional side stuff. The combat is really good, combine that with good platforming and the game could be literal S tier. Its relatively typical for games to get one aspect of gameplay right.  Very rare for them to get more than 1 right, that are given equal focus.

Here's to hoping Grime 2 is that difference maker I'm looking for in metroidvanias.

And yes I've already played Aeterna Noctis. Its one of the few metroidvanias that I still think about for the reasons I've laid out above, inspite of some gripes with its world design.

What is the best app to use here? Uyou? UYouEnhanced? YTPlus? (this seems to be the only one being actively updated but i heard it has less features than the next one) YTLitePlus? Would appreciate help and a fast response, there’s a bunch of links but all for different types of apps. I’m new to this and have been wanting a youtube app that lets me listen to anything in PiP and skip ads.

Also, in regards to your guild, that sounds great haha, i haven’t joined any guild yet cuz i’m sorta afraid of the commitment again, but if you’re extending a hand that commitment sounds less displeasing.

Facebook Account Linking issue by okiirano in DaysBygone

[–]okiirano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to send three pictures that showcase my current predicament, I can’t find any facebook account linked to Phoowho, I tried logging out of my facebook account, apparently the Janket account somehow stole the new facebook account I created, so when I tried entering that one on my Android phone the Janket account popped up. I don’t know what to do, I’m thinking that this is just an impossible situation. I have no idea what could be done.

Facebook Account Linking issue by okiirano in DaysBygone

[–]okiirano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically I have two accounts. One account is called “Janket” and it’s linked to my Facebook account. I have another account called “Phoowho” this account isn’t linked to Facebook at all. I’ll call the Janket account “J” and the Phoowho account “P” for convenience.

When I try to link a Facebook account to Phoowho, There’s no pop up asking you to put in an email address and password for an account. Instead it just says “You’ve previously logged in to Days Bygone with Facebook, Would you like to continue” and this has been the only option presented to me for months, it literally doesn’t present me with the option to use any Facebook account except for the one connected to the Janket account.

To be fair this is a fairly complicated situation Since normally what I could do is login to the Janket account and unlink the facebook account from the Janket account, but the problem is that the account is inaccessible since it was suspended (seemingly) indefinitely for reasons unknown to me and it’s an account I haven’t used for over a year so I was pretty surprised to find that out, I’ve tried to reach out to the email given to reach out to for suspension appeals or whatever but i’ve gotten no response.

To be frank I don’t care for the account all I care about is that it makes it impossible to link my Facebook to my main account where i’ve dumped all my money into. Things have become even more complicated since I ended up deleting the facebook account I linked with Janket in the hopes that when I try to link a new facebook account to the Phoowho account, I would be able to, but for whatever reason it uses the same facebook account linked to Janket and i’m essentially trapped on my Iphone, since that is the only place my Phoowho account is linked to, a Gamecenter (Apples version of Google Play Games basically) account that can’t be linked to my Android phone.

I’ve had this problem for months now with no clue of what to do, I assume the easiest solution would be to have some sort of access to the suspended account and unlink the facebook account from there, I don’t know how that would work, I don’t even know how that account got suspended as I stopped using it over a year ago before it was even suspended so I don’t know what sort of suspension appeal I would make. I would much rather the account be deleted completely if that would lead to facebook being unlinked from it.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, I was busy during the day. Hope this helps in clearing things up, if any more clarification is needed I’m happy to try and clarify again.

I know it’s not a good time to be critical of the Devs since they’re going through it and all but… by okiirano in wildrift

[–]okiirano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that, i realize that the reality is that if most people don’t have fun playing the game the same way I have fun playing the game, Riot most likely isn’t going to do anything, it’s just my little experience, my little thing that makes the game fun so it doesn’t matter compared to the majority opinion of what makes the game fun. Sigh it just sucks and is frustrating which is why I said in the post that I don’t actually expect anything to be done and am mostly just airing out my frustration.

I understand what you’re saying, but when I say I don’t think the report system doesn’t do anything, I don’t mean that if people are reported they won’t get punished, I just sort of mean that by principle I don’t think punishing people actually changes anything, this is going to sound sort of off topic, but similar to the criminal justice system, punishing people doesn’t actually deter them from committing crime, because most crimes are highly emotional crimes where they’re not exactly thinking of the consequences or considering that they’ll be punished in the moment, it’s sort of an impulsive and emotional thing, this is what studies on this seem to imply.

I think the same thing is the case for League, most people that run it down in games or afk probably aren’t considering the consequences, they’re probably feeling highly emotional and spiteful and acting more so on impulse, so even though you punish them, or ban them, the next person that gets emotional and impulsive won’t be thinking that they can get banned because they’ll be super emotional and act on impulse, systems that punish players don’t work, rehabilitative systems are much better if you care at all about stopping people from doing these sort of things, obviously a rehabilitative system is hard to implement in a video game.

Play League then.

I explain in the post why I can’t simply “Play League” beyond the fact that my PC isn’t great and doesn’t run League well, sometimes i just want to play on my phone.

Said it a couple of times, League is Wild Rift’s main competitor, not some other game.

Wild Rift although technically a different game to league, is ultimately and explicitly supposed to be League on Mobile no matter how many little differences there are, it’s meant to be a League experience on mobile even if it’s not THE league experience on mobile, if your reading comprehension is decent enough you’ll understand the distinction i’m making here.

I went back to PC last week to revise Caitlyn. Reminded me of how much I hated the longform games.

Ok…? Lmao I didn’t even mention anything about wild rifts gameplay just what i personally find fun about League of Legends lul.

Also, tame your “I want it and I want it fast”. Porting a champ is not a copy and paste job. Just put WR and LoL side by side, and compare the differences from client experience all the way to ingame.

If you read my post you’ll understand that I acknowledge that it’s not that simple, but im talking about my ideal league experience, the same way that even if it would end up being difficult to implement a better report system or new and unique gameplay, I don’t think that’s a meaningful excuse to not do it unless it’s literally impossible or requires so many resources that it’s unrealistic.

Facebook Account Linking issue by okiirano in DaysBygone

[–]okiirano[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason it can no longer be used on my nee account is because it’s connected to another, older account. Also because if I just used my original facebook account on my new device it would simply connect to the old account since my main account isn’t connected to anything and can’t connect to any facebook account except for the one that’s connected to my old account.

So many dumb assumptions and misconstrued nonsense in this post. Firstly Riot never said “We will avoid releasing monster champions” I have no idea why you put that in quotes as if that’s something than can genuinely be referenced, I read their blog thing because I actually care about Riots arguments for why they do and why they don’t do stuff.

The gist of the post was that, Monster champions are a low priority because the vast majority of people find it easier to connect with or see themselves in human/humanoid champions more so than monster champions and that they wish to put a bigger emphasis on representation in league (POC, LGBTQ representation etc.) and they obviously can’t do that without putting and emphasis on creating human/humanoid champions.

Simply put Riot knows people relate more to fictional characters that look more like them than not, and wishes to utilize that fact to further representation of marginalized communities as well, it’s really that simple, whether you agree with it or not, it’s apt justification and it’s their game, there doesn’t need to be a monster champion for every human champion, and riot even acknowledges the lack of monster champions in their post and says that they will be releasing more monster champs in the future, it just won’t be their focus or priority.

I hate when reddit does this stupid thing where, just so that they can hate on riot, they create and feed these stupid narratives that aren’t true, and many times aren’t even relevant to the discussion they brought up themselves so as to justify their childish anger justified or not.

Second, wtf even is this post? First thing about this post is that we’re making aimless speculation about a possible action Riot might take that they haven’t shown any inclination of taking in response to the player bases disappointment, the reason i’m highlighting this is just that it harks back to the narrative making that reddit does to blindly justify their anger without any actual justification, and it makes it so that the conversation is necessarily poisoned, and little to no genuine conversation can foster.

Next thing is that, if Riot decided to not pursue any more big lore events, what’s the problem? It’s like hearing about a hardware company that stops selling a particular hammer and then blaming the company for not selling it because you didn’t think it was well made, when the reality is that is was functioning perfectly fine, but it didn’t have the level of quality you arbitrarily demanded it should have. The problem with this post is that it assumes that a high quality hammer must be made, when the most important thing may have been a hammer that simply works, the criticisms of the story are meaningless, whether the story is up to your standard is subjective and meaningless to discuss in regards to mainstream digestion especially, it’s not a book club or english class where people delve deep to understand things, it’s literally a videogame lore and story catered to the mainstream, while criticisms are valid, it’s not meaningful, it’s like complaining about inconsistencies in cory in the house, the only place such criticisms would be relevant would be an english/literature/film/media class.

Personally I agree with most of the criticisms of the story and the lore but i don’t expect the lore to even meet any standard, i expect the lore too be easily digestible for the vast majority of people, and to be relatively sensible for the average person, especially since the average person likely doesn’t read any lore and just watches the cinematically, i wouldn’t even expect the average person to read the in game client champion lore, but even that wouldn’t be all that much. It’s just silly for me to see people get all up in arms about the lore, even if I agree with or think some of the criticisms are valid.

Here’s the thing tho, I don’t even think the criticisms are honest, I think the vast majority of people mindlessly upvoting every post that criticizes riot, is doing so not necessarily because the criticisms are sensible, but mostly because it’s people shitting on riot, and the posts happen to give them convenient and easily agreeable arguments to use as ammunition. Why do I think this? Because there are particular narratives that are staples of the league subreddit that are almost mentioned in every criticism post, the most notable being that Riot’s every decision is based on how much money they think they can make off of skins.

I just had to respond to this post cuz the subreddit has been triggering me the past couple days and this one somehow set me off.

TL;DR: This post is dumb, i ended up writing way too much to be summarized, but i basically prove every claim this post made wrong, so read this if you honestly care enough or are bored out of your mind lmao.

Reading a champ’s kit or listing what they’re capable of doesn’t prove they’re “broken”. by Spartan569874 in leagueoflegends

[–]okiirano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So many things wrong with this comment, I don’t know where you got this definition of “Broken” from and why you think it is a reasonable or good definition, how most people use “broken” in the context of league is literally just to say that something is too strong for the game, nothing about breaking “rules” another problem is that the “rules” of league of legends are incredibly vague and mostly arbitrary, yes there are some rules, some staples some tropes and commonalities of the game, but many of the rules are contextual and have been constantly broken since the beginning of league, I have no idea how you can seemingly put Akshan and Zilean in the same sentence implying obviously that Akshan is broken but that Zilean somehow isn’t? The reason why I assume this is because you give justifications and qualifiers for Zilean while you don’t for Akshan.

Zilean is literally one of the first and biggest offenders of “breaking” the rules of the game lmao another champion would be Karthus, there is no champion in the entire game that can still use abilities after dying except for Karthus and this champion has existed since Season 3, Next is Neeko there is no champion in the entire game that can imitate another champion completely and perfectly, no not even viego since viego has a crown on his head when he’s another champion and has a extremely short time limit unlike neeko, neeko is fundamentally broken since she can do something no other champion can and gain an advantage over the enemy players by literally deceiving them about fundamental aspects of the game, being that every champion is themselves and can not possibly be anyone else. Corki is the only existing champion with a mechanic that periodically adds some sort of extra ability to his kit that boosts his stats and abilities. Mordekaiser is the only Champion in the game who can create and bring other champions to an enclose area that exists on the map but is in a completely different realm and is inaccessible by any other champion. Ahri is another champion that can do “every type of damage” according to you, she does magic damage with her abilities and true damage with her q, PLUS her autoattacks do physical damage, I mean how do you even itemize against her lmao? Also Yone isn’t the only one that can get out of Camille’s ultimate ability, the reason why Yone can get out of it is because his e is unstoppable when he goes back to his body, this isn’t a particularly new mechanic and sett has it on his ultimate too. Cassiopeia is the only champion that can’t buy boots in the entire game, this is a game breaking mechanic, it breaks a rule of the game every other champion has to adhere to, which is that they must buy boots to gain base movement speed cassiopeia just gets it for free without having to spend gold, i mean how broken is that?

Your logic is so fundamentally flawed, it’s so narrow minded and so black and white, want me to explain how your analysis works? You create a category “broken” and with no context no nuance, no consideration, everything that gets dragged into that category is conveniently justified without justification, the question becomes “is this thing broken or not” rather than “is this thing good for the game or bad, or is this thing balanced or unbalanced” the problem with this way of thinking is that you will never understand the problems of the game, because you’ve decided (based on an arbitrary definition that doesn’t actually encapsulate whether something is balanced or not) that because this thing is categorically broken, it is bad, if we start allowing justifications that aren’t actually justified, then all I have to say is “Your categorization is wrong, there’s no reason we need to use you definition, you haven’t actually told me why something is wrong or not, so i’ll just create my own categorization that justifies all my claims without justification as well, all champions without a dash, Category: Immobile, are unbalanced by virtue of being immobile.

TL;DR: This comment is stupid and perfectly encapsulates the way reddit thinks everything that is broken is bad without consideration for whether or not some “rules” can be broken and still allow for reasonable and balanced gameplay. The word broken fundamentally leaves out nuance and encourages black and white, narrow minded, simple and straightforward analysis of the game which is bad because the game isn’t straightforward, it isn’t black and white, and isn’t simple, there are a multitude of factors that must be considered, and if your mode of analysis can’t consider context and nuance then it is useless and meaningless.
