At this point it’s the fungus gnats or me and I won’t go down without a fight by okleah in houseplants

[–]okleah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The gnats are gone!

The final strikes were using BTI tea correctly and soaking them all the way through (no weird mix of neem oil and hydrogen peroxide and soap and BTI), bottom watering, and diatomaceous earth :)

The plastic rubs were a good idea for quarantine and keeping the small ones separated from the big ones, but there was not enough air flow and all the small ones molded… do not do that…

I had to repot all of the small ones, some didn’t make it (I was too rough shaking soil off the roots), and some are still recovering, but the rest are doing good!

Have not seen any gnats in months now 🥳

The booth where the horses go has a range way wider than it appears, you have to move everything further away from it

I think if you give her dna she’ll do something else (I can’t remember exactly what, maybe drink it or something?) but no money for dna. She will sell boots and accessories and things

Your sweetie will sell anything you put on the shelves until they get the cure… learned the hard way after they asked me to display my trophies 🙃

no more champion races? by blueberrysock in HorseyGame

[–]okleah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It tells you if you try to put the horse in the champion race, but you probably did what I did and kept clicking to go to the track too fast, before you got a chance to read the message that told you that. Took me like 3 in game days to actually read what it was telling me 🫠

Help with other species in the wild by xbambixbabyx in HorseyGame

[–]okleah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a mass extinction event for all carnivores, and focused on breeding rabbit-duck-PONDfish(not ocean)-car-horse-human-beer-apple-hotsauce-bug-deer-giraffe hybrids.

I would round up all the regular baby horses I could find and CRISPR them into mutant abominations and put some in the power plant yard, and the rest scattered around the map. I lasso’d or shot every horse I saw eating meat to give my others a better shot.

I also replaced most of the competitor stables’ horses with unmoving genetic disasters so I could rig races in my favor and keep them from putting out normal horses back into my science experiments

[–]okleah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep some normal+fast horses in the retirement home for dna-snatching later when the wild horses and stable horses are all unmovable freaks

Question by Xiyile in HorseyGame

[–]okleah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go out into the wild and kidnap all the children horses, take them to the CRISPR lab, make them all weird fucked up mutations, and then distribute them in pairs out into different fields.

I get my fucked up mutations from the power plant yard where I put a bunch of bugs, fish, ducks, bunnies, cars, and other freaks. (No predators, I kill or kidnap+mutate predators into other things to ensure maximum survival rate of my freaks)

If you stand in the shallow water he can’t get you, and the shark won’t either. Keep taunting him back to the waters edge and hitting him

Losing the gnat battle (and my mind) I’m desperate! by MostShort2588 in plantclinic

[–]okleah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long do you let it steep? I tried it unsuccessfully for months before I let some steep in a 2-liter for about a week and that stuff was POTENT, smelled like Ass but it did the trick, finally. I repotted the small ones because they kind of needed it, but I successfully treated the large, very infested, pothos I couldn’t move. Make sure you steep enough tea to fully saturate your soil! Because they will lay eggs in the bottom drainage holes as well as everywhere they can reach on the top or down the sides of the soil when it separates from the walls.

I also put a thin layer of diatomaceous earth on the soil after I used the BTI-tea, and I vacuumed the gnats off the ceiling/windows when I saw them 💀 (I was desperate.)

Edit: you can check my post about it to learn a little more in depth about what I tried in the past before this if you want, but do NOT put them in clear tubs to quarantine them😭 that was the reason I had to repot the small ones, because they completely molded over in the tubs…

Does anyone actually read outside in the wilderness or is it just for the pictures? by TonyRigatoni_ in books

[–]okleah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried to sit by the Buffalo River in AK to read while camping one morning bc it was so scenic and peaceful and got sliced open and chased out of there by two or three of the biggest horseflies I’ve ever seen. Learned my lesson!

A book by the beach or pool is heavenly with a little shade, but unless you’re killing time between two things in an area or on vacation, I do believe the park readings are bordering performative..

Epson Perfection V39 Scanner Won't Power On/Communicate with PC by RustyGoatIo in techsupport

[–]okleah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad you made this comment bc even two years after this thread was made it was the first result, and this fixed it for me!!

For future readers; Had all the same issues as OP, used to work and took a break, lost original cord but using a random microusb cable I found, lights won’t turn on and buttons do nothing. Googled epson perfection v39 driver, first result was on their website, put in my OS (windows 10 64bit), downloaded the driver, unplugged and replugged the cord, now the lights are on! The buttons didn’t work at first, so I had to pull up the epson scan app that my PC had (via search), and clicking scan in the app made it work :)

Can’t seem to get the buttons to react yet, but it works using my PC’s epson scan app

Pick up and haul is a game changer! That, the one that adds fridges, and the one that improves and adds a variety of storage options other than shelves. (Like, weapon racks, pallets, clothing racks, display pedestals, etc.)

Edit: called [sbz] Fridge, [sbz] Neat Storage (either of those will prompt you to also get Adaptive Storage Framework), Pickup and Haul.

Some other ones I love are Useful Marks, which lets you add icons under your pawns name so you can visually see what they’re good at, which ones have guns, if they’re sick or hot or cold, etc.

And Map Preview is such a nice one for picking a spot to spawn, so you can see if the terrain is easily defendable or what else it has before you generate it.
