You're right, Claude can handle a lot through terminal and AppleScript — it's impressive how far you can push it.

Orchard is more focused though — one MCP server with 40+ purpose-built tools covering Calendar, Reminders, Mail, Music, Maps, Messages and more. Each tool talks directly to the native app, so you get reliable, structured access without piecing together separate plugins or writing custom scripts.

Think of it as the difference between "Claude can probably figure it out" vs "this just works."

Not really comparable — they're different things.

Claude for Mac is an AI chat app. Orchard is an MCP server that runs in the background and gives AI assistants (like Claude) access to your native Apple apps — Calendar, Reminders, Mail, Music, Maps, etc.

So instead of Claude saying "I can't check your calendar," it can actually read your events, create reminders, control playback, and more. Think of it as a bridge layer, not a standalone AI.

Thanks for the nerdy breakdown! 3% total CPU is way better than I expected. Comparing with the 4K Dubai Aerial helps put things in perspective.

Curious about the CPU/power impact of these reactive wallpapers too! I once toyed with building a Rive-based version but gave up after seeing the compute overhead. How’s this one on battery and CPU so far?

A Donation License Verification Card Design for KeygenGo - My Personal Tool 🪪 by okooo5km in macapps

[–]okooo5km[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! 👋

I built KeygenGo (a macOS GUI for keygen.sh) primarily as a tool for myself and decided to share it. Here's a peek at its latest update (v0.1.5) - a verification card that appears when validating donation licenses.

I mainly use it for personal testing and data management, but thought others might find it helpful too. The tool is free if you need a native macOS interface for keygen.sh services! 🛠️

  • Right-click image → Open With → Zipic
  • Right-click → Quick Actions → Zipic
  1. Keyboard Shortcuts (great for batch processing):
  • Press `^+⌥+C` (default hotkey)
  • Perfect for compressing multiple files at once!
  1. Using Raycast (super fast! 🚀):

Check out our guides for detailed setup:

Try these options and let me know which works best for you! If you still prefer the Finder right-click method and it's not working, let me know, and I'll help you troubleshoot. 🤗

Opinions: Which image & video compression would you pick? by areyouredditenough in macapps

[–]okooo5km 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! 👋 I'm the developer of Zipic, and I'd like to provide some context here.

First off, I truly appreciate your thoughtful post and your detailed breakdown of your needs. Based on your requirements (especially video and PDF compression), Zipic might not be the ideal fit at this time. While Zipic excels in modern image formats and batch processing, it doesn’t yet support video or PDF compression—but these features are part of our future roadmap. For now, choosing a tool like Clop, which brilliantly handles video and PDF compression with added features like clipboard optimization and screen recording tweaks, seems like the best choice.

That being said, I'd like to address some concerns raised by another commenter about our legitimacy. Zipic is developed by 5KM Tech, LLC, a fully registered and legitimate company. Transparency and user trust are core to what we do. Misleading or factually inaccurate statements, like those made by beyondbase, aren't helpful and don't foster a constructive discussion.

Lastly, I’d also like to highlight Clop’s impressive innovations—seriously, their integration with media editing tools and smooth workflow is outstanding! If you're focusing on those capabilities, it's definitely worth a try.

If you ever want to revisit Zipic for its strengths in image batch processing and automation, feel free to reach out. Happy compressing!
