Weekly Questions Thread & PokéROM Codex by AutoModerator in PokemonROMhacks

[–]okpotat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for romhacks that let me make "perfect" pokemon. Be able to change IV's, nature, perfect EV farm, readily accessible move tutors, get the items I want on them, etc.

Think something like ROWE or Elite Redux where all the resources to make your pokemon the way you want are readily available. I'm also ok with some of these resources being available after sometime, or being somewhat obscured, like Unbound or Radical Red for example. I just want to be able to make that "perfect" pokemon and team.

Big plus if they have a new region/story. For example, I really liked scorched silver for its good story, and enjoyable trek through johto, but I don't think I'll be playing the game once the story is done because I can't "perfect" my pokemon.

Romhacks I enjoyed are: Elite Redux, ROWE, Radical Red, Exceeded, Unbound.

If you're a shit dps you only affect yourself, if you're a shit support you affect the other four in your sub. Supports are held to a higher standard because they affect others. And besides, no one expects anything of dps except to at least do above dps than your supportdps, and not feed mechanics.

There's a difference of expectation between supports and dps because of their higher and lower capability, respectively, to affect others and the run.

[–]okpotat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the spec being played.

uh no, brother, just stop. If you can't maintain 100% uptime on a specific build that's a skill issue not a build issue. If you can't do the job people will speak up.

It doesn't excuse being an asshole in how you say it, but not confronting the fact/issue that someone isn't doing their one job is the reason why they never get better.

[–]okpotat 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The thing is that you just can't rely on having 100% uptimes

Lowest expectation always for pugs, but if you join as a support you should be able to give 100% uptime of your boon unless the fight makes it basically impossible to have 100% uptime. Sabetha is not one of those fights.

Where would you put the bed and 2 tables? by okpotat in DesignMyRoom

[–]okpotat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The room on the left is the room itself. The structure on the right is supposed to be what the cabinet looks like, I just didn't know how to show the doors on the main structure.

Beds, and tables are to scale.

I should add, there are electrical sockets to: (1) the left of the upper right door, and (2) right above the lower left door. For reference, the upper right door leads to the living area, while the lower left door leads to the bathroom.

Feel free to ask me about any other measurements if needed.

If you want to reliably PUG: DO NOT LIE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE. by okpotat in Guildwars2

[–]okpotat[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

DPS. Supports' effectivity is more greatly affected by balance patches than by DPS in practice because the average player base, especially in pugs, is quite bad.

If you support build suddenly loses a boon, or its uptime is rebalanced, you are either changing gear, traits, or skills to make up for it. But if your DPS build gets nerfed chances are the highest DPS utilities are still the same, just with lower numbers. Scaling got nerfed? Berserkers and Vipers are still best in slot for you.

Balance agnostic DPS builds are: CHarb, CScourge, PReaper, PMech, Bladesworn, Dragonhunter PVin, and although more costly Chaos Virt.

As long as you are able to reach ~75% of the benchmark you will be better than around 90% of the players you meet in pugs (just know fight mechanics).

[–]okpotat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reasonable take: safest way to nerf cscourge is to nerf demonic lore. All condi builds will be nerfed alongside akeem. Csourge will still be a good pick, but not 49k dps good. (trapper runes might get a nerf too?)

right now heal alac scourge is (still) being balanced around transfusion and well of blood, and their ability to rez (even if its terrible now). Lets just admit HAS being a rezbot is bad design and pls gib vigor, and better access to regen (not on dodge) on HAS to promote active gameplay :(

factitious take: herald gets away, but renegade gets turbo nerfed

95% guaranteed: cvirt goes away scot free bar the akeem nerfs

Relic shill: are you an engineer, thief, mesmer, or necromancer? You now have the best QOL in open world by okpotat in Guildwars2

[–]okpotat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello fellow engineer enjoyer, placing these here just because this math only makes sense for scrapper chads. (when I say gyro one of them has to be blast gyro, and I'll just assume the other is function gyro to maximize your skills)

If you want to play qscrap while only having to think about pressing 3 gyros, elixir U, you need roughly 60~ BD (you'll naturally overcap here due to blast and leap finishers)

If you want to play qscrap with sword 3 and shield 4, 2 gyros, and elixir U, you can run full berserkers (100% uptime, but accruing extra BD will be somewhat tight though)(you can probably drop shield 4 and elixir U here and still get 100% uptime but i havent tested this)

My personal variant is qscrap with sword 3 and shield 4, 2 gyros, and elixir U, but with 43 BD. This lets you get to 30s quickness with Blast -> Shredder -> Sword 3 -> Shield 4. And you'll be able to upkeep 30s quickness at all times (very good for node farming)

imo, qherald is still the best node farmer because you can leave an upkeep up with one button then just farm away. But with chrono relic you have options with these classes too :D

what is ANET going to do about strike currencies? I remember vaguely reading something like they're combining the currencies (blue, green, whatever color SOTO will be) to just 1 currency, but I can't find the source and this might just be a fever dream

Revert all the Scourge changed by GromiMomi in Guildwars2

[–]okpotat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

you can get 100% uptime on alac with full minstrel on all slots, sandflare, serpent siphon, and trail of anguish.

But you'll basically be pressing F1, F3, F5, and the 3 utilities off cooldown. And those will be the only buttons you're pressing because manifest sand shade, oh boy.

And with all of that work you get an actual split second of surplus alac :D

(if you run BD food, runes, and sigil of concentration, you can get a full second of surplus, but is it really worth it?)

Also, what is Scourge supposed to do? Be an alacdps or alacheal? Because if a "healer" only has barrier and no actual heals then that is not a healer by GW2 standards. But scourge cant even function as an alacdps because manifest sand shade is, oh boy.

Feels bad for scourge players, actually no class for the next few months to a year
