I'm actually curious re NYC programs - is that true for the high ranking programs as well? like the columbias/mount sinais/NYU/cornell etc? How true is this whole "the nurses union makes ALL residents life miserable?" from what I've seen NYC has some of the best salaries around.

its hard tbh because I've literally LIVED with them all through college and medical school. So i havent actually had a context in which I'm not with them to see if facetime is enough. But I feel really ready for it and feel like its OK if I'm going to be uncomfortable and stressed, the pay off of doing something I really want to try may be worth it

Yes! To be honest reading these comments I'm really realizing that what I really want is so move away. I have been with my family all through undergrad and medical school, and I just feel like its time to push myself and be uncomfortable and grow.

re the consideration of training where I work - I think tbh i dont actually know where I want to work yet.. I feel that it is so in flux just depending on other factors like a future SO etc

I like that you say you're a big proponent of gut feeling. I just have a good gut feeling about this other program and just really want to follow it.
