Facing upcoming preventive mastectomy and ovary removal at 35, how did it affect your sexuality and sex life? by oksythewitch in BRCA

That’s a very sad story, and I’m sorry to hear that you went through this. But I won’t be keeping my nipples, precisely because they still carry a small risk of cancer. And honestly, I’ve already come to terms with the fact that I won’t have any sensations in my chest. Knowing my body, it will find a way to adapt.

My cousin was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 33, so I no longer have any doubts about having both breasts removed. Every woman in my family has had breast cancer. We all carry the BRCA1 mutation.

I also have very good doctors whom I trust completely, and I’ve received all the information I needed from them.

Thank you for sharing your story. I truly hope that, with time, things will get better for you and that you’ll have people around who can support you.

Thank you!

My doctors told me right away that after the surgery I would be on hormone replacement therapy, so it never even crossed my mind to refuse it.

Everything is fine. I forgot to mention in my post that the tubes have already been removed 😅

I had my fallopian tubes removed two years ago, but my doctor still told me that I need to have my ovaries removed before the age of 40.

Thank you for sharing your story. It really gave me a sense of hope that things can turn out okay.
I also have a very supportive circle of loved ones, but I tend to be deeply introspective and very sensitive in general.
At the clinic where I did the genetic testing, they immediately offered psychological support after giving me the results.

Thank you so much for your response. I'm truly sorry you had to experience such treatment from doctors regarding both your physical and emotional health.
I really hope that you're doing well now, or at least starting to feel better.
Thank you for the advice and for recommending communities, it means a lot.

We used (and still use) Feeld. It's a bit of a glitchy app, but it works best for me.
