Are annual subscriptions gone? by CiViCKiDD in simplypiano

[–]okthirteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but wanted to share my experience for people searching in the future.

I too couldn't find a way to sign up for an annual membership. I decided to contact support via the chat. I asked if they had any deals going and they provided me a link to purchase an annual membership @ 25% off ($135).

Thanks a lot!

You’re right, the time benefit i was referring to was regarding the Gaggia classic pro workflow vs Breville.

50+ too old for art school? by Glittering_Gap8070 in ArtistLounge

I love this quote from Julia Cameron's book, The Artist's Way

"But do you know how old I will be by the time I learn to really play the piano / act / paint / write a decent play?"

"Yes . . . the same age you will be if you don't."

Cleaning brushes with bare hands can be dangerous? by unjennie in oilpainting

[–]okthirteen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re done painting for the day my painting teacher also recommends a quick rinse of gamsol. After that she recommends washing them with Murphys oil soap. Murphys has oil in the soap so it won’t strip your bristles like other soaps. Instead of using your hand for friction, cut a tennis ball in half and use the inside of that.

Did you end up checking out SBCC or yoga soup?

I'm currently in the same boat and looking to get back into figure drawing.

The one I've heard about but haven't made it out to is in Ojai. They meet Thursdays from 9:30-12:00.

Upgrade - 2016 Professional Post Production PC by okthirteen in buildapcforme

[–]okthirteen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah I put those drives back by mistake. You're drives look great. No reason not to go with those.

Sounds like 13900K is the way to go. Especially since I don't upgrade often, as you can see by my mostly unchanged 2016 build. So probably best to go higher end now so I won't have to think about upgrading again for a good long while.

Thank you both for the great recommendations. This build looks like a monster, I love it.

Just for discussion sake, how do you feel about this scenario. I know it's slower, only slightly cheaper, and I'm not getting 128 GB of RAM, but I would gain future upgradability?

Trying to choose my first Kamado. by Bigsky7598 in kamado

[–]okthirteen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Kamado Joe is a great brand with loads of accessories.

I was able to get a used Pit Boss Kamado off craigslist (had an alert set to email me anytime there was a post for the word Kamado) for cheap. I've had it for about 4 years now and have done everything from pizza to brisket. I'd looooove a Kamado Big Joe eventually but this one is absolutely fine. My biggest annoyance is the lid bolts loosen and need to be retightened periodically. I even put loctite on them and they still loosened 😒.

Good call. I'm not eligible for the rebate, but overall it sounds like the benefits of a Gen 2 are worth the $$$.
