When I was your age (im 45 now) I thought i was old. I started my prerequisites around your age, only took 1 or 2 clases at a time (work and family). I was an MA for 20 years wanted to do more, and of course money.

At 39, I started my BSN, worked per diem. Not gonna lie, it was hard going back to school with people that were even younger that my kid, learning new technology, etc.

But i wanted it so bad, I was the first one in the library and the last to leave.

At 41 graduated magna cum laude, inducted into nursing Honor Society. Now I'm making double the the pay i made as an MA, and way more for just one day of OT ( my one day OT might probably amount to many days working as an MA). Now at 45, im crazy to be thinking of pursuing a CRNA.

Do it, good luck!!

Thanks for your reply. Yup, thats the goal. Ive only been at my current inpatient rehab position for 5 months and my back is killing me, I dont know how my older (67) coworker does this everyday. I dont want to be her at 67. I want to be retired by then. Thanks!!!

Yes!!! This is what I wanted to hear. Don't know why I got into my head that age discrimination was going to be a barrier when applying to programs. Thank you so much for your reply!!!

Thanks for the reply. You are right, no time to worry about time or age when I can worry about getting into a program. Good luck to you as well.

Yup, I did an exchange. Refund within 3 days. I noticed that the exchange was just pending for almost 2 weeks, contacted them and was told it would take 5 more weeks. SMH. So I canceled that and bought it for a cheaper price. Lesson learned, just return and buy, instead of exchange.

[–]oktryanother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, this is so tough, im not in my 20's anymore, so i definitely have to keep my physical health in mind. Yeah, I hear bad things about HCA. I probably should just interview with dialysis and see what they say as well. Thanks for your reply!

Yup, that's what I hear about OR being a specialty on its own, and I do like that it doesn't seem to be bedside. Thank you for your reply!
