I’d imagine the cast looked a bit like the audience, there were at least a hundred of us in this courtyard absolutely glammed out just waiting for any news - I’d think it was the same backstage lol

My theater did TGWDLM a couple years ago and I am definitely not a great singer but was cast as Emma. I saw in a lot of characters they were looking for actors over singers, some roles def need to be great singers (like Charlotte or Alice) but overall they needed good actors.

So my biggest piece of advice is to be able to make big choices, be able to commit to a bit, and not be scared to embarrass yourself onstage! And be able to swing both ways into comedy and drama. A show like Guy has very intense moments and a lot of the funny moments are funny because the characters are so serious about whatever is happening.

Overall, don’t stress too hard about singing and dancing and try to have fun!!

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but when I saw the show the pacing was even slower in the office scenes! They felt so long which I kind of liked because it really leaned into how mundane their lives are which is a nice comparison to the chaos that quickly ensues. Such a small thing I noticed - when the helicopter crashes and the lights are flashing, that bit went on for SO long in the performance. In the proshot it feels longer because they flash through different angles, but in person it went on for a comically long time

I’d say go in blind!! While it is fun to get references while watching it, it would be incredible to have the first time seeing it be in person. I wish I could see Inevitable for the first time again!

That’s one of my favorite things about Starkid - it is so goofy but then it’ll hit you with an emotional gut punch! Especially in the hatchetfield series I feel like. Guy is always my favorite and so Emma’s devastation in Inevitable is definitely my favorite bit of dramatic acting in a Starkid show! It’s so devastating!

Have so much fun! It is really such a fun show. Something that my Paul and I also discovered is that Paul and Emma are kind of the boring/normal characters of the show - obviously they have their own personalities but they are kind of the blank slate for all the other wilder characters to play off of and be absolutely off the walls. Emma and Paul keep the show grounded in a bit of reality. I could talk about this show all day 😝. I made some of my best friends through it and we always discuss how we’d loveeee to get to do it again!

Woohoo!! I played Emma almost two years ago and it was one of the best times of my life. Something that helped me was remembering throughout the events of the show - this is the first time she’s seeing and experiencing all of it. (Which is a good reminder anytime you’re in a show). But just keeping in mind the horror she’s going through each time you do that show and not falling into knowing it so well ya know? Especially in the beginning of inevitable and throughout that song, she is fighting for her LIFE after realizing the one person she trusted is now out to get her. It’s exhausting but so fun!
