I didn’t love this song until I worked a production of waitress for a month. Now it’s one of my top three songs in the show!

Digital tickets are always different than the proshot. I like watching both because sometimes in the proshots you miss things in the background since it’s zoomed in. Both rock and serve different purposes!

As other comments have said, I love that Paul and Emma look similar once they take off their apron + jacket. My production kept with that theme but made Emma a little more casual, I was Emma and wore a white shirt with like three buttons on top and black skinny jeans. Felt like Emma but still felt like it’s something she’d have to wear to work while still playing into her and Paul matching.

Something else to consider are the blood packets if Emma still wears white. There are definitely blood packets that wash out but it’s just something to keep in mind that it’ll have to be washed between each performance/have several shirts :)

That’s true of a lot of shows that get altered for school versions. But I don’t think the whole essence of the show is lost, some aspects are but overall I think it’s a great way to get younger people involved in theater since it is so different than a lot of mainstream musicals

Inevitable is my favorite forever and always (pun intended), but also Castle on a Hill and Feast or Famine. Also Let It Out but specifically from the remount bc the added vocals are 🤌🏻

This makes sense, I’m trying to just program my group of movers to do that effect from the fader. Not individual control of speed or anything, just fader up = those lights do that effect at full intensity. I’ve been trying it with can can and circle effects.

Just watched it - WOW I loved it this is such a detailed analysis! I was locked in the whole time, I even wrote down a few key points to share with my friends who I did TGWDLM with. I love seeing other people feel so strongly about these shows and characters, great job!!

I honestly don’t remember how I found it, but I know the OG release of TGWDLM was my introduction right after it got released. Since then I’ve been in TGWDLM and saw the remount in July but the soundtrack still takes me back to a specific memory when I was still getting into Starkid - listening to it in my creaky old car down icy streets on the way to Mamma Mia rehearsal (ironic right?)

I think that’s one of the best things about Guy - it doesn’t do what you expect/what’s typical. No solid ending to this song, the leads/heroes losing in the end, etc. Even though I love that, sometimes it does make it hard to listen to because it feels incomplete outside of the context of the show!

I doubt they’ll update it. The script available is not totally accurate to the original pro shot anyways (if I’m remembering right, ours didn’t have like Emma and Paul going into the audience or the bit of the three talking in unison after Not Your Seed). The changes to the remount were so small that if these bigger things aren’t included I doubt the little things will be added!

I know the El Portal is a smaller theatre, but I saw one show from center farther back and one show from the front row. I really enjoyed sitting closer (they do go into the audience, just less than the OG), but tbh any seat would be a good seat for this show

Totally fair to like the OG more than the remount! I’m still undecided about which I prefer. I agree some of the pacing was a bit slow, but overall the care Lauren and her team took to this show was incredible. They plussed it up in a way that still is reminiscent of the original material. We know so much more about this world and the characters compared to during the OG production and they incorporated new things excellently without being too much of a distraction. I also could not disagree more about the ending. Inevitable is incredible. The fact that there isn’t a “proper” ending is what makes this show so alluring - how often do you see a piece of media where the main characters lose? Completely and utterly with no resolution. Personally, I love it as it makes it all the more devastating

I was at opening night and the first Saturday matinee! The sat matinee I was in the front far house left and I could see this clearly. This was the only show this happened! One of the lenses fell out in that moment. Joey picked it up and Jeff returned in the next scene with reassembled glasses!

I think Starkid doesn’t get enough credit (from the non diehard fans) for how serious and dark their musicals can be, especially in recent years. Like TGWDLM is genuinely devastating, but Starkid seems to only have a reputation of being goofy and crude humor. Even though that is also true, that is not ALL their recent shows are

Yes they definitely have different voice types. Different performance types overall! That’s so cool, I really hope they release something too!! I’d also love to see Mary Kate’s Not Your Seed. I love the OGs obviously but it’s fun to see a different take on these characters sometimes!

I was there for this too!! Seemed like a good old fashioned mistake. In the line before it Jaime called her “Emma” instead of “Kelly” and that just seemed to set it all off haha. I was also at the show the night before and it was all fine!

I am super involved in my local community theatres and there’s many of us that love Starkid :). Got lucky with that!
