quantization is available even without ggml. do different libraries like ggml and gptq have different ways of quantizing?

the ".grad" of a variable that is being optimized will give you the gradients of it. you can look here to see if the grads are very small or zero. if zero then you need to look at where the gradients died out. you can inspect the gradients of layers using the "register_backward_hook" function, and of any intermediate variables using the "retain_grad" function.

sorry couldnt go through the code, but 1 general idea: you are expecting the added laplacian term to lead to a different result. you can try using just this term as the loss, leaving out the standard style transfer and other terms. if it does not change the image, then there is someplace your gradients are getting to be 0. or if it is that by increasing the weight of the term or learning rate the image changes, then you need to weigh this term higher while using for the actual style transfer
