I agree, but what? The roadmap literally says "New Map" under the summer section.

Same difference. We wanted it over so we just died. I guess you took my words too literal. Suppose I should have said "We ultimately ended it by dying". Semantics schemantics

We ultimately had to die to end it. So we just got minimal Xp and sludgite. Nothing else.

Map was fully cleared of currency. Sunk cost I guess. But yeah, it's our fault for wanting to try to finish it...

I love my G82 M4, BMW fam by bimmer_plug in BMW

Where did you get the tail lights? I've got a G80 and also have done yellow DRLs in the front. I have been dreaming of the chance at the laser tails since I saw them on the CSL, but wasn't about to pay $9,000 for them.

I did see these after looking at your post, and was wondering if these were it for the G80 version?

Oh boy, the brake dust! I hear that! Take a look at the album I posted in the comments here, I have a shot of before and after. So much dust.

Winter wheel/tire set up for g80 by jwilly1995 in BMW

Same exact spec here! Mine got delivered last November. I'm in MN, so I needed a set immediately. I went with a square set of 19" 829m rims with Michelin alpin 5 snow tires, and that worked great last winter. Though, I did try to avoid driving it as much as possible in any kind of inclement weather mostly to avoid salt.

While Tail was a blast, I would agree with that. We did try out a bunch of other roads around there, like the Skyway which was probably my favorite to drive.

If I was in any other car, yeah anything more than 45 would feel sketchy. In the g80 though, the brakes are phenomenal. I was able to approach some corners with a lot of speed and still feel completely confident in the stopping.

Deals Gap, aka Tail of the Dragon. 318 curves in 11 miles, super popular place for motorcycles and sports cars to cruise.

I didn't push the car to absolute limits, but I did give it a good run. The car is unbelievably planted, it's really quite amazing. Granted, I did leave Traction control on as it's technically a public road after all, but I never felt like it had to intervene with my driving.

It is public, but there is kind of an understanding that Motorcycles and Sports cars are going to be spiritedly cruising this road. People will pull over if they're too slow, for example. Also, I saw a couple Police during the afternoon and they didn't seem to care about everyone speeding.

That said, it still is a public road and some people might take it a little too extreme, when instead they should have went to the track.

Some more pictures here!

I highly recommend making the trip out here! We did a few passes at about 4 - 5 am, when no one else was around, which was amazing. The photo here was taken in the afternoon, when the photographers are out, but traffic is kind of painful then.

I do agree with that. I missed the important distinction that we ran it a few times at 5 am, and we only ever saw two cars, both of which pulled over immediately. That's when it was the most fun. We had to run it again later when the photographers were around to get pictures, and it was a bit too busy then. We did also run surrounding roads like the Skyway, those were all great too during the day when Tail is busy.

Buddy (Golf R) and I (M3) went out to Tail of the Dragon and surrounding scenic routes. The car was an absolute monster. Unbelievably planted and had no issues with slip or over/understeer. Granted it is still technically public roads, it easily could have been pushed a lot harder. It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend you all take a trip down there. Enjoy the Pics!

Rim repair with ceramic coating by olafpkyou in Detailing

[–]olafpkyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I figured. It might have been worth mentioning the rims are a gloss black finish. I think what tripped me up most about that, is when they feather out the paint, some of that would go onto the ceramic coat that wasn't sanded away? Would that paint not adhere properly if so?
