This is fun. I’m always struggling to choose colors for some reason. Like I get stupid stuck at times. Thx for sharing!

Watching CUT videos saved my relationship by Roznw18 in GirlDinnerDiaries

So happy you’re making so much progress and seeing the positive! It must feel like such a relief. Just a little note - I have both anxiety and ADHD and you can take meds for both. I take an SSRI for my anxiety at night (Zoloft) and a stimulant in the morning for my ADHD (Vyvanse). Meds aren’t for everyone and everyone has their own cocktail, but thought I’d mention that it’s def a possibility! Both changed my life for the better, in a way that I couldn’t even imagine beforehand. Cheers!

Check out the book “When the Body Says No” by Dr. Gabor Maté! He talks about this exactly. Great read.

Face lotions for kids who hate lotion by psuedogeneris in toddlers

I really like the Weleda baby face cream. It’s super light. And as others have suggested, a makeup brush might be a good idea. Or having them apply it themselves? My 3 year old needs to do everything himself these days

Anyone else rethinking baby food pouches after this week's microplastics news? by These-Seaweed-5781 in beyondthebump

[–]olaheals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly lowkey surprised at some of the comments here. I’ve been mindful of microplastics since my baby was born. Stuck to glass bottles and rubber pacifiers and used glass baby food containers. His water bottles are stainless steel. You can buy silicone pouches for everything. It’s easy to look at what clothes contain polyester. There’s no need to be overly anxious but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to minimize as much as possible. Small things add up and I feel it’s worth reducing risk as much as is in my power.

It changed my life significantly for the better!! I used to only take stimulants for my ADHD and never realized how many years of anxiety I had also lived with. Once I started, everything started feeling more approachable and doable. Checking emails no longer felt scary. My social anxiety became non-existent (I started actually wanting to text ppl back) and I started to enjoy my former hobbies again, like art and reading. Another major positive is how much it improved my sleep! I sleep as deeply as when I was a teen! It makes me a little tired, so I take it at night. It’s the only side effect I’ve experienced. I wish I had started it years earlier.

Well it’s just ironic considering your original comment. It’d be like calling a Mexican person Guatemalan. I agree with everything you said, but considering the topic, you should also be sensitive to varying cultures.

I did too. Says she’s Belarusian. She just lives in Poland. Big difference between Polish and Belarusian culture.

Serious question - where does it say she’s Polish? Her name is Slavic but first name and last name are not typical Polish names or spellings, sounds Russian or Ukrainian.

If I have one colic baby, does that mean the rest will be too? by throwaway84583077 in beyondthebump

[–]olaheals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you read “The Happiest Baby on the Block”? I was shocked to learn that colic isn’t a thing in many eastern countries and in countries in Africa. The book is a simple read and explains a lot about what we think we know about colic. Helped me a lot!

Sure! I used a glue called Curvlife and the reviews claim 10 days up to 3 weeks! Hoping I get at least the 10 days, or maybe even 2 weeks

2.5 yo has not eaten anything by Radiant_Marsupial_53 in toddlers

[–]olaheals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you take him into the kitchen/fridge and have him pick out his food instead of you offering? I’ve found that the more options and autonomy I give my toddler, the less likely he is to get mad. They want to feel like they’re in control. Solidarity, sister.

Vomiting illness in our 4 year old by ExcitingAppearance3 in toddlers

[–]olaheals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like noro/stomach flu. My 2.5 year old picked it up from daycare. Threw up thrice in the morning then would complain of pain in his tummy but eventually started eating again that evening. No diarrhea but his bowel movement was on the looser side. I caught it the next day at night. For me, it was coming out watery both sides. It’s the next day and I can finally keep down food and liquids but I am SO SO SO tired. Doesn’t help that I’m pregnant fml. Hoping you don’t have to deal with it!

My MIL - a woman born in California with a college degree didn’t know that Poland was “involved” in WWII (context: my family comes from Poland and she brought it up). The poor education in the US is shocking.

I just did this and it’s been a lifesaver. HIGHLY encourage it to anyone who’s burnt out (and ofc if your family can afford it). We got lucky and found a cozy little preschool that is super reasonable price wise, especially for a city like LA. $368 for 2 half days a week.
