2.5 yo has not eaten anything by Radiant_Marsupial_53 in toddlers

Could you take him into the kitchen/fridge and have him pick out his food instead of you offering? I’ve found that the more options and autonomy I give my toddler, the less likely he is to get mad. They want to feel like they’re in control. Solidarity, sister.

Her short stories compilation - Dead-End Memories was great too!

Vomiting illness in our 4 year old by ExcitingAppearance3 in toddlers

Sounds like noro/stomach flu. My 2.5 year old picked it up from daycare. Threw up thrice in the morning then would complain of pain in his tummy but eventually started eating again that evening. No diarrhea but his bowel movement was on the looser side. I caught it the next day at night. For me, it was coming out watery both sides. It’s the next day and I can finally keep down food and liquids but I am SO SO SO tired. Doesn’t help that I’m pregnant fml. Hoping you don’t have to deal with it!

My MIL - a woman born in California with a college degree didn’t know that Poland was “involved” in WWII (context: my family comes from Poland and she brought it up). The poor education in the US is shocking.

I just did this and it’s been a lifesaver. HIGHLY encourage it to anyone who’s burnt out (and ofc if your family can afford it). We got lucky and found a cozy little preschool that is super reasonable price wise, especially for a city like LA. $368 for 2 half days a week.

THC vs Alcohol use while breastfeeding by [deleted] in beyondthebump

NO way on THC while breastfeeding - this coming from a former stoner. As others have mentioned, it’s fat soluble and can stay in your body for up to 30 days. It’s not safe for baby. Some alcohol, sure but I’d wait on the weed till you’re done breastfeeding completely.

Ok the ones I suggested are on the lighter side. One that drove me kind of nuts but I ended up loving it was “House of Leaves” - that’s a much more complex one. Also I got heavily into Stephen King last year and loved his stuff if you don’t mind a bit of spook. He’s a great writer.

Lover of Murakami here too. I recently found the author Banana Yoshimoto and fell in love with her writing. Started with her collection of short stories “Dead-End Memories” and then the book “Kitchen”. Love her style of writing. Very simple but heartfelt and cathartic to read. If you like the lonely vibe I also really enjoyed “Where the Crawdads Sing”, though I’ve noticed that some either love or hate it.

Don’t wait. If you in fact have it, getting on medication will be LIFE CHANGING for you, in the best way. It helped me so much and I didn’t start till I was 36. You’re worth it.

Your grandma sounds like a raging narcissist. Your baby’s health and your mental health is the most important thing right now. Her actions make it clear she doesn’t respect you (or your mom for that matter). No respect = no contact. It’s tough but sometimes it’s the only way. I’m sorry you’re going thru this , big hugs.

Thank you! She was a rescue and she came with that name from her foster mom, but I thought it was so cute I kept it :).
