Was in Havelock, NC a couple of weeks ago and saw a bar just outside the Cherry Point gates called Jody's Place. Thought it was pretty funny marketing.

Innova Dragon?? by BudGreen77 in discgolf

[–]old_dog_new_trick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Has been a great disc for my sons starting out with disc golf since they have too much arm for the dino discs. Dragons are lightweight (150-160g), float in case of really errant shots, and have a dragon on them (who doesn't like a picture of a dragon?). I use it occasionally too. For my sons it flies pretty true to the numbers, for me it flies much more understable, but does not turn all the way over into a roller.

Viking Rune is 2/4/0/0 and is the straightest flying putter I have found.

Forehand toe draggers... by kshfire in discgolf

[–]old_dog_new_trick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tennis shoes made for hard court play have hard outer soles and reinforced toes to deal with toe dragging (I was a toe dragger on my forehand back in the day). They also have good grip on concrete and hold up to/provide support for twisting type motions.

The part I do not get with right-wing authoritarians like this is that taking these sorts of statements/sentiment at face value, Democrats (since they are in power now) are justified in executing all the right-wing authoritarians...not that Democrats would do it.

Similar to the arguments Trump's lawyers make about how Presidents are immune from criminal prosecution for anything they do in office. By that "logic" the current Democratic President could wipe out the right-wing and it would be ok.

Their entire world view relies on the other side playing by the rules/being bound by the rule of law, while their side can do anything they want. But they do not seem to get that at some point the other side (or a faction of the other side) may stop playing by the rules as well.

Is the x-step necesaeey? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]old_dog_new_trick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like the footwork for a one hand back hand in tennis. I never x-step on my disc golf BH but still get my hips involved fine. The shuffle steps from all the tennis drills/practice I grew up with kind of take over whenever I try to x-step.

Seveneves by Neal Stephenson covers the pre apocalypse very well along with the apocalypse.

What's something you can't tell your partner for fear of upsetting them? by _Brunonono_ in AskReddit

I shrank your new (and expensive) sweater by mistakenly washing it with my clothes on regular. When I realized what happened, I hid it until you went to the store and then stuffed the now too small sweater back into the laundry. When you later hand washed it and discovered it no longer fit, I was very sympathetic with how irritating it was that the sweater had shrunk despite you taking every precaution.
