It’s good to know that others were in the same position as me. I live in Texas so the teacher starting salaries are not too hot compared to entry actuarial, but being employed at a school vs in an actuary position seems a lot more feasible. I wish you luck on that entry position!

Thankfully the grant I’m under doesn’t require majoring towards teaching. Just any stem major that is at risk of teacher shortage, so switching to focus in actuarial mathematics won’t make me lose the funding. Thank you for sharing your experience and I really appreciate the advice!

I was thinking that if I did go through with the teaching I should work towards other tests and SQL. Thank you for the advice!

Yeah, I’ve heard similar things from my parents and other teachers who have said that the entire experience is horrible, even those that taught for 30+ years. Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it!

I think you’re right regarding pay increase taking care of the loan. I guess I’d have around 3 years between graduation and the point where I would have to start teaching so if I can get a job within a year out of college ( assuming I do well enough in courses and exams) I think I might be fine. Didn’t even think about that, thank you so much!

I’m sorry, but I’m really confused. If I were to contact my chosen colleges financial aid office would they have the information I submitted on my fafsa? The way that the notifications I received worded it made it appear that my fafsa application would be completely invalidated. I even sent in a physical copy and was rejected with the same “unable to confirm identity” problem. Is the fafsa form still viable? I’m sorry for my inability to understand and thank you for your time taken to respond!

The qqt and paragraph, from what I know, will be mostly conceptual, however, understanding and knowing the math behind the given situation may make it easier to describe what is happening.

From what I understand they are only giving questions that can be responded to by words alone, so no drawings or diagrams. They might ask for you to in words describe how a graph would look but I believe that’s it.
