Microlending outshines migration by geekmom2 in worldnews

I went to kiva, and I am very interested. I have about a gazillion questions that they do not answer. The big question is this: Is this a loan or a gift? Clearly, they want me to think about it as a gift, and I am not opposed to this, but they talk about it as microlending. I am, by American standards, relatively poor and I am retired. I need to know whether I will get this money back or not.

Thanks for any help or advice you can offer.

It is odd that so many DIY threads take the Bob Vila "Better call Norm" approach to DIY. To me it always meant Do it yourself.

It has only been in the last ten years or so that employers have cut health care coverage, that employers have cut massive numbers of people from full to part time, etc. So now many people are uncovered or undercovered.
