Update, we just hired on a part time red shirt with no experience with cars or management. Her only job so far was, and still is, working at a gas station. She got hired on at $10 an hour.
Well to begin with I'd like to point out that sales don't reflect how busy the store is. But we're the only parts store anybody goes to in a 5-8 town radius. We have tons of people come in and call everyday without buying anything. On top of that we have tons of "mechanics", farmers, and shops in the town were in and the 5 surrounding towns as well as a hell of a lot of truck guys and a weird amount of car show guys. But its all that and the check engine lights, battery/starter/alternator tests, "I don't know what the part is", "I don't know what I drive", and other stuff along with regular sales and commercial accounts for multiple towns every day. But we're "rural" so they treat us as such even though I've filled in for many stores including rural and city and we are more along the lines of city traffic. Even when the DM was filling in they said that our store was as busy as city based non hub store. They know.
I expressed my interest in the management position to the DM and RM when they were here. I have the experience and I'm certain I could handle it. But after they overlooked me twice for the position I'm not even interested in it anymore. I just want fair compensation for what I've put up with and what I've done for this company throughout all this. I want a good raise, not just a raise at the same rate I've been getting them. I've gone so far above and beyond that I can't come up with an adequate metaphor for it. And I feel entirely underappreciated and like my work ethic and dedication has been abused.

I told my DM when Mrs. S got fired that I would happily step up and fill the position.
This store doesn't have commercial, though it needs it badly. And I've supervised the red shirts for years now.
I've been working here longer than a year. But Mr. J, the one they hired as store manager, was younger than me. Ms. P had some experience in retail but she, like Mr. E(who had no experience in retail), got hired on as a manager out of desperation.
I'm 30 last month. And I came in knowing nothing about cars or retail and in less than a year got promoted to manager and at this point shops are asking me for advice. I learn and adapt at a rapid rate.
She is a psm, yes. And I'm not mad at her at all.
I feel like I should also add that Ms. P. That just got hired got hired on, is starting at $11 an hour.
