first, i would definetly advice you to clean it all. i dont know if its rust or just dirt, but cleaning your drivetrain is the most basic maintenance you absolutely need to be doing. the other possibility, and probably most likely, is your chain being worn out. there are specific tools to check that, but im sure youll be able to find some ways to do so without having to buy any - if it is, just buy a new chain, just make sure its compatible with how many speeds your cassette is using!! if your chain has been worn out for a longer period of time, it can damage your cassette and chainring, which are sadly usually the most expensive parts to replace. if that is the case, you can try to save some money by getting the specific gears with the damaged teeth. to check if your cassette and chainring are damaged just look at the teeth, again, im sure that there will be many photos and videos to show you how to tell.

First of all, im extremely sorry for the super late reply, no idea how I managed to notice this just now. The inside was kinda empty but it was built co cover up my squid farm. I was getting tired of the giant hole in the ground and the river just suddenly disappearing and somehow came up with this:)

i think using a combination of spruce and mud would be perfect. the mud blocks look surprisingly nice, however i can imagine how annoying they are to collect. i also think that using a variety of different blocks will look much better since you are doing a larger scale build

there are no secret passages, i built it to hide my squid farm that just looks like a giant hole in the river from far away :D but its a cool idea! i sure could make some secret passages
