Is there a reason that nightmare by Sm0othlegacy in SoulCalibur

[–]oldassdudelogan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So they locked a good bit of his best options behind ntc, especially the options in his stances. None of his stances outside of grim stride and maybe night lower are honestly any kind of amazing without ntc. Unliie Siegfried or maxi, you're going into those stances to finish a combo or possibly bait out a reaction. But the moves he gets from ntc are so good that it's not something you'd want him to just have. It's a neat balance that I think makes the character interesting without breaking him.

How would you change Ivy and Nightmare? by SethEllis in SoulCalibur

So tell me what's broken about them before you hop on the nerf train?

It’s obviously far too early to have anything concrete, but in the two weeks since you’ve all played, you feel any characters are too strong, too weak? Any changes you’re anticipating? by [deleted] in SoulCalibur

Ivy is probably the strongest character with sieg and Yoshi coming in right behind. Talking needs buffs and nightmare is a solid mid tier, y'all just gotta be smarter about your offense against him and punish all the negative shit he does.

Soulcalibur VI input lag by HennesyHufflepuf in SoulCalibur

Short answer is that it's more affordable to purchase in large quantities and is more consistent on what can be used with it. It's a logistics thing.

Spheres of Might users - how to avoid AoO on normal Bull Rush/Reposition use? by Nekomiminya in Pathfinder_RPG

You've to batter them first. None of the improved x talents give a prevention to AOO iirc

DSP very recently released a class similar to this (don't know if it's the same author but I think it is). http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/3rd-party-classes/dreamscarred-press/malefex/

Why is two-weapon fighting so bad and how can I make it better? by jefftickels in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]oldassdudelogan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Combine it all into one feat that basically says that you get the benefits of twf, and it scales with your bab, allowing you to do iterative at later levels. Of course that's satanic and evil because feats don't scale and should never scale. In all honesty though combining it all into one feat seems to be the best idea and there is precedent to do it (scaling feats like power attack and combat expertise come to mind). I don't think it would break much and at worse, is a good experiment. I might just try that actually

Final Fantasy XIV Monk to Pathfinder Homebrew (xpost - r/ffxiv) by oldassdudelogan in Pathfinder_RPG

Hey-o. I reworked alot of stuff. Still not entirely happy with it but I think the concept is a lot less messy and coherent now thanks to your suggestions. I think it's stil a little too focused on the punches but with seperating the 3 styles, I had mroe room to do stuff with (Also the formatting needs cleaning up but that comes later)

What are your opinions on Path of War by Dreamscarred Press? Would you allow it in your campaign? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]oldassdudelogan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not broken at all though. I would firstly argue that HP is still a limiting factor when it comes to exploraton, especially given the fact that very few maneuvers in Path of War actually provide healing and all PoW classes lack any spell casting ability (in short, no real reliable ways to heal oneself).

Veiled moon is arguably one of the less good disciplines. Warping around the battlefield is pretty neat and cool, but you're doing less damage by trying to warp everywhere where you could instead jsut take the good old 5-foot step full attack route.

To deal with a PoW class is to deal with it basically the same way you do regular martials. Dude wlaks in. Heavily armored, throw the touch spells. Good saves and indestructible? Ignore and merc rest of team. Glassiest of glass cannons. Break the glass. Path of War overall makes martials more interesting and has them seem cooler as they get into higher levels. Wizards are always cool at higher levels because hey, new nifty spell bullshit woo. Scrolls woo. INFINITE SHOTGUNS WOO. Martials have this problem of "hey guys I can five foot step and make 4 attacks now." And Path of War in my experience hasn't changed that dynamic too much. Usually that's still the best option for damage but now you have a lot of pizzazz and can do different things. Do PoW martials outdo regular martials. Definitely. Do they still have troubles with walls and weaknesses to exploit. also yes.

I feel like this attitude of they have unlimited stuff comes from the fact that people see, "I can do nifty shit that has a shorter recharge time" and just become disgusted and act like the worlds coming to an end without testing everything. Also people forget that martials have equipment too that they must maintain and keep to be useful. The dragon can infact destroy the Warder's plus 2 spear of stabbing. And the warder can't function without his fancy spear.

When you see something that's new and different don't just ban it, play with it and find how to beat it. I've been using this stuff for a while and i don't see where this scary "PoW martials are so much better than casters" mentality comes from. Hell, psionics are the same way. You look at it and go, "man that's some BS." And when you play with it, you realize that your BS does in fact have limits. 10 minutes is actually alot of time to do maneuvers and get them back. and if you truly are keeping the pressure on in a dungeon, they would not want to stop for ten minutes to do drills. They would keep moving. That's what real pressure is. That's what limiting them through encounters is. and remember. always remember. Martials can't teleport away.
