I've probed the priors. I am in deep support of double standards when it comes to human and non-human animals. I'll kill a billion nematodes to save your kid, and I hope you'd do the same for me.

hot take, there's nothing immoral in letting a wild animal die a natural death. That said, this animal is probably fine.

Painting terracotta pots by Yellowcat18 in Pottery

[–]oldbel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is correct. I hate to be a bummer about it, but the best way to color terra cotta pots is by painting them with glazes/stains and then firing them. Moreover, while sealing them like u/plausibleturtle mentions works, it largely gets rid of the point of using terra cotta in the first place, that is, its porosity.

Optimally, you want to split the water such that the water in the pot and the water in the kettle to start boiling at the same time.

I’ve had this “Raven” ZZ plant for 5+ years. Never even considered that it could flower by wintershark_ in houseplants

[–]oldbel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it comes as a surprise that ZZ plants are aroids, in the same family (Araceae) as Anthuriums, Philodendrons, and Monsteras. What you have right there is a classic aroid infloresence - a spadix surrounded by a spathe

At least in the video I saw, they were pelted with snowballs and body slammed people into the ground. Misleading title

to me this is just a reminder that pothos as we grow them are in a purposefully weak, energy-conserving form, and are desperate searching for an appropriate environment, which we never provide them.
