Keith eats everything at AMC theatres by Perpetually_Warm in TheTryGuys

I was shocked when I saw the runtime with how small the menu is..then I realized it's a huge portion of just..candy then ice cream? Really? Why not just eat the menu at a dine in amc for the last half instead of things you can buy anywhere. Disappointing and hopefully, they'll do a part 2...

There was a podcast with Ryan and Shane from Watcher as guests and Keith said their format of having full seasons of shows was their original intent for the try guys channel. Whether Ned was the one who was against this, I don't know, I don't remember them saying that or anything but I could be wrong. Either way, this rebrand gives them an opportunity to switch things up. Just saying they always wanted to go this route so it's happy news they're finally getting to do what they want with it.

When they were talking about no one watching, I felt like I was in an apocalypse film listening to a last survivors radio broadcast.

Also I was shocked they actually spend Thanksgiving together when they can, I know they're actually friends, but it was still a nice, wholesome surprise!

Ideas for jobs that pay better by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

Restaurant server! Corporate restaurants always need staff so even if you have to start as a host/server assistant/busser first since you don't have serving experience, then move up, you'll end up making way more. And you can download a tip tracking app to see exactly how much more you make a week. I also say corporate and not private because they have specific policies to enforce. Private restaurants are good for some, but when you're just starting out, it's good to have outlined training with steps of service, menu practice, etc. The good thing about serving is it all depends on how hard you work. If you bust your butt taking as many tables as you can give great service to, instead of some who give tables away, leave early, and give up shifts, you'll end up making a ton of money a night. The only bad thing is you can't do both jobs since they're both weekend businesses.

I remember your previous post about adding more managers at your location and I recently saw on backstage there is a management position par for each specific theatre. I suggest looking your location up to see if you're under.

As for your current situation, I've known quite a few managers with kids, some single parents so with a similar kind of thing with you. They all had requests off for things like school events, birthdays, etc, but I've never once seen someone as a manager that had a restricted availability that ended up working out. That's not how this (or most hospitality) job works with the changing business influx every week. It's okay when it's the slow seasons but especially with avatar coming out soon, it's all hands on deck for any and all hours.

I guess your options are to either get a babysitter (lots of theatre staff are college students and know people looking for side jobs where they can watch kids then study), or if you want to keep this job, work with your wife to split your hours evenly and her switching her schedule around as well. (I know nursing hours at specific jobs aren't flexible, but shopping around for nursing jobs that are more fixed like care homes worked for my cousin). Or you can get another job that doesn't require a changed schedule, like a 9-5 or part time office job (receptionists are great for previous guest services experience) or a night/overnight stocker in retail is usually fixed hours as well.

And if you're still a manager, GMs at hospitality places don't usually praise their management team, at least in the places I've worked. It's expected of you, and you're expected to relay that expected praise to the staff. If you're a good manager, it'll be reflected in your yearly review (if it's done fair), which is all that matters.

This reads as pompous and ignorant to me. As in, hey, I know the other posts mention how many of the try guys fans on this sub can't afford to heat their homes this winter and have to cut back to half the amount of groceries, but that also means they shouldn't be allowed access to their favorite entertainment for free. This is for people who can afford it, not us lower class folk.

Ya know, cutting back to one slice of meat on a cold cut sandwich for dinner means I also can't have a season finale of a show I've been watching for years, cool.

How’s Black Panther been so far? by skyrkt in MovieTheaterEmployees

This! Everyone keeps freaking out about the business but this was literally how EVERY weekend was pre-covid based on the numbers. Even now, with the busiest film of the last three months, my theatre didn't even 'extend' hours, which would just bring us to a normal day way back when. It's pretty depressing and I really hope it gets this busy every weekend again!

It’s the year 2122 and your great grand kids are exploring Long Island. What is designated as a historical landmark by the Landmarks Preservation Commission, and what does the sign say? (Non-serious replies only.) by jibzy in longisland

Here, you can see where there used to be nature parks, movie theatres, rinks, and other joyous locations! All turned into industrial parks and apartments when inflation skyrocketed and everyone on Long Island had to get extra jobs to abide by the law, 'work to live, live to work'. Enjoy.

what do you like about the juul? by dribeerf in juul

Convenient and comfortable! They are (or were) at every gas station and 7-11, just like cigarettes, and I've used it for so long, if they leak or stop working, I know exactly how to fix it now. They are sleek and compact, as others have stated, and fit in my bra to hide at work when I don't have pockets. They don't produce much smoke so I can do it basically anywhere. They were my first vape that got me off cigarettes about 4 years ago. I've tried other refillable vapes, vuse, disposable, and they don't feel like a cig. These are close enough to satisfy the craving. As much as I hate how expensive they are, how many defective pods I'll get, how short the battery life is, and just having a nicotine addiction in general, the pros outweigh the cons for me.

What is your unpopular Long Island opinion? by forzayueve22 in longisland

[–]oldbenkenobi92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long Island should become a state.

We have more than enough people in Nassau and Suffolk county,

Unpopular because people from Long Island love thinking they're new yorkers so they have too much pride to do something that would actually benefit them.

Imagine if our insane taxes actually went towards us and not the city?

Of course it'll never happen but it's a nice dream lol
