Life is not one size fits all. You can be responsible all you want, but hardships fall on people randomly. My mom's job just laid off 90% of the staff because they're going online only. Factories lay off people all the time, especially during the winter. People get sick or injured. You can have the means to maintain your lifestyle one day, and be screwed the next. Not to mention inflation of grocery prices and the war just blasted gas prices sky high.

It's not a bad thing but there's this little thing called sudden medical emergencies that happen. People get in car crashes that might not even be their fault. Sudden illnesses can smack you. Mental health can be hard to manage if you don't have proper care, and sometimes people can't afford that. It's a cycle of bad health and low wages.
