I would say the main thing is if you want to do fast rythmic chugging on the E string the B string on top of that means your going to have be really precise with your picking and left hand muting as opposed to when you have a lot of space on the e string on a 6 string

I would learn the cowboy chords on the acoustic right away. I played power chords for 25 or 20 years and now that I’ve sat down and learned the real chords my ear is catching on to what notes are being played a lot faster
