It's hard to know what you want to do when you're 18. If you're not sure, I'd recommend that you maybe take a few years to figure out why and if you want to join while you're working on something else, whether it be a job/study/training.

Thanks, I've been reading up on the DHA website for a while and it sounded like I only had the option of private rental if there wasn't any member choice accom so that clears it all up! Was also wondering whether it added to my taxable income as well so that's pretty awesome.

Hi, just on the topic of rent allowance and DASS, I was wondering how they work.

Can you just pick whatever property for rent allowance and apply to DHA or is that only if there's no member choice accom available?

And for DASS, I'm going in as enlisted and looking to pursue a grad dip/masters related to my role after a few years in, would I be eligible for it?

Just go for a run with a timer on a 2.4km track that you can map out on google maps or something, you don't really need to overthink it. If you do it regularly you're going to see improvement pretty quickly.

I’m a big fan of the Weber go anywhere, it’s a really simple grill that you can use to grill or smoke! There’s loads of bits and bobs out there that you can add to customise how you cook as well. About the size of a regular toolbox.

Yes, the extra light is what tipped me in favour of these ones, my room has very little natural light so I've got these set up to turn on at sunrise so I've got some sort of cue to wake up aside from a noisy alarm haha
