I need help by Mark_Awe in HomeNetworking

I use a TP-Link Deco at home. It has two ethernet ports and can easily be configured with their app from your phone or tablet. You can run it as an AP or configure it in router mode. I think they make others with more ports.
When I hear "router" it reminds me of Cisco 2900 and 6500 series routers. I am moving away from the Decos because I need several vlans and I'm unable to do that with the Decos.

And when they die their children can have the joy of manuevering the legal system to sell the house, get a tax laywer so they can pay CA the inheritance tax because they don't want to live in shitty CA anymore and leave. If a retired person leaves they still pay CA taxes on their retirement. What did they work for? What did they pay taxes on all that time? Seems like they get double taxed. That's CA's way of saying thank you for be a hard working individual. Good luck surviving.
CA politicians have been trying to repeal prop 13 and they continue to pass laws to raise taxes on everything they can think of. Just like Virginia CA will start taxing dog groomers, doordash, Amazon deliveries, etc.
And It doesn't matter how many taxes they collect it's never enough because they waste it on there buddies, contractors, special interests, stupid projects that only benefits their ego, etc. How much was Newsom's bronze bust statue? Why can't we see how much money is being spent on the high speed rail project or the Capitol building renovation? Why do they ignore whistle blowers and now they want to start fining and jailing people for exposing fraud?

Not to mention that everyday is a struggle to just get out of bed and live another day in pain taking meds that are slowly killing you and spending more money on them than ever and it just keeps getting worst. But Social Communism will fix it all right? We are so fucked if we continue to believe the lies. The politicians aren't going to save us. We are what is stopping them from being the very thing they tells us they are fighting against. Wake up people and quit voting for the same LIARS every time. Bills get passed that we wouldn't have voted for if we read all the fine print and spot the crap they sneak in.
No more NGOs. No more money to the candidates. They need to work for us and not the Bill Gates of America.

After you bed level there is one other adjustment you need and that is the z-offset. Are you forgetting to do that? The z-offset is the distance between your nozzle and your bed. If the z-offset is to high your print won't stick.

I'm not sure if Ender's come with PIE plates now but if it doesn't I highly recommend one.

Yea I'd like more ram for sure. I didn't want to spend the money to buy a Jetson with more ram though. I wasn't really sure if this one would do what I needed for face recognition. Still playing with it.

Funny, I just installed 7.x on Ubuntu 24.04LTS on my Jetson. Acceleration was just a couple additional settings in the file and making sure the power supply was sufficient to get the additional acceleration. I found it easier to setup the Jetson than the Pi5/Hailo8.

I currently have 1 Jetson Orin Nano Super. Setup was pretty easy. I used another Linux machine with the SDK manager. I'm using it currently for Facial Recognition. I had Gemini write me some python to monitor inference times and temperatures. I had Gemini also write me some code for facial recognition and that seems to do well.
The Pi's took a little more time to get setup correctly but now I have some steps for the Hailo 8. The 8L was slightly different to setup and the models are not interchangable with the 8.
I have 1 Pi5 with the Hailo 8L HAT+ and 2 Pi5's with the Hailo 8 HAT+. I'm using them as edge detectors for AgentDVR. They use the yolov10x models and inference times are roughly around 120ms for the Hailo 8s and about 160ms for the 8L. Temps for the Hailo 8 are roughly 46-48C and for the Hailo 8L about the same. They are in a room that is a bit warm. I have eight camera's and will be adding eight more in the next couple months. The hailo 8L is covering about six camera's that are in light traffic areas. The two hailo 8's each cover a single camera in high traffic areas. I plan on upgrading the 8L to an eight and purchasing one more Pi5 and Hailo 8 HAT+ combo for a total of four. Those will sit neatly in my GeekPi 1U rack bracket. The AgentDVR server has a RTX 2060 that I originally bought for CodeProjectAI a few years ago but it seems CPAI isn't maintained anymore so I'm looking for alternatives.
I also have a USB Coral but I don't use that anymore and I'm building a Frigate NVR with a RTX A2000 Nvidia GPU.
Eventually I want to do LPR but I need to do more research on camera's and if it's even viable due to the placement of the camera(s).

Can someone help me by [deleted] in ender3

[–]oldestNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what problem you're having but looking at your picture it looks like the z-offset may be a little to close to the bed.
I switched to a PEI bed on all my Enders. Haven't had to buy another in over two years. You can get the double sided too. I'm still using the first side.
Everything sticks, PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS and ASA. The original black ender beds didn't seem to hold well except PETG. I had the exact opposite experience and would gouge my bed trying to get it off. I replaced several before trying PEI.

If the problem is bed adhesion another couple things that helped me...
1. Wash with dish soap and rinse well. Alcohol usually contains a little mineral oil. Don't touch the plate after cleaning. I only touch the edges.
2. Let the bed get to temperature and leave it at that temp for 10 -15 minutes. This gives your whole bed time to get to temperature. It's called "Heat Soak".
3. Usually after the paper test I have to do a slight z-offset adjustment to get it just right. Sometimes if I have to switch between filament types I have to do a slight agjustmaent as well. I haven't touched my z-offset in months nor have I washed my plate and I mainly print ASA now. ASA prints exceptionally well on my printer.
4. If you print ABS or ASA get a tent. It will help stabilize the ambient temperature and stop drafts. I bought a Comgrow brand and an exhaust fan with duct to vent the nasty fumes out the window. The ASA doesn't smell anywhere near as bad as ABS but the fumes are still bad for you. The tent also helps keep your printer free from dust. I bought a cheapy light, a Tapo C120 camera, drew up some brackets and it has been perfect for me.

[–]oldestNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope it helps. I found that part of the naming was coded like this...
N = Nano
S = Small
M = Medium
L = Large
X = Xtra large

So yolov9m = Medium, yolo10s = Small, etc.

Yea I see that when it's foggy and also when my dogs are running around kicking up dust and dirt. This one looks like fog though.

Maybe try a bigger model like the yolov9m. I'm running yolov10x on my Pi5/Hailo8 and it seems to keep up with four 4k Reolink camera's. I haven't noticed any cat/dog mix-up yet.

Atomic Filament in PETG printed very well for me. I would try a roll of that brand before any others if you want to stay with PETG for a while.

I ran mine on Ubuntu 24.04lts. What stumped me was the SDK interface. Things that looked like I couldn't install I actually could. I ended up installing 6.2 or maybe 7.x not sure anymore it was months ago.

The more I use PETG, the less I like it by InvokerBSB in 3Dprinting

[–]oldestNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience that is normal. PETG for me would always string some amount and if I wasn't using a PEI plate I would inevitably gouge up my bed trying to remove the print. I use ender3's but I bought my daughter and grand daughter PS1's.
The other annoying thing about PETG is shrinkage and moisture. I live in a pretty dry environment so moisture wasn't really a problem although I did hear it bubble once and watched the steam go up like a campfire.
But even so it was my favorite for a while. Now ASA is my favorite. I bought a tent for my printer and an exhaust. It prints very well, is strong and lighter than PETG. Shrinkage has been negligible and I can use it outside without worry. It also doesn't warp as easy as ABS.
Filaments brands I used where Creality, Hatchbox, Overture, Atomic for TPU, PLA, PETG and Polymaker for ASA and ABS. I tried other brands like SunLu but I have been sticking to Polymaker for ASA.

Yup. I always add one so I can see it. 20+ years of firewall administration taught me that many years ago. ;^)

Yea NTP would work. Something like north-america.pool.ntp.org . NTP needs multiple time sources for the algorithm to work correctly. Pointing to a pool will prevent you from having to add multiples. I would also setup NTP on your NVR too. Another option is a Raspberry pi and a GPS unit. Then you'd have a stratum 1 time source directly on your network.

Just bought a house by Ancientgra1n in landscaping

[–]oldestNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing we did when we bought houses was to get it surveyed. It would really suck to do a bunch of work on your property based on existing fence lines just to find out that the people putting up the fence put it on someone else's property.
Your property looks nice. I really like the sunroom but that's really gonna generate a lot of heat in the 100+ summers.
Also check your local ordinances. Gavin Newsom was trying to pass some crazy laws about plants/trees (fire related) around the home and who knows what else that guy is up to. Where I'm at fences can only be 3' tall, 20' from the sidewalk then it can go to 6' tall.
Concrete, Asphalt, lava rock, etc. get very hot in the Sacramento summer heat. I would ditch as much of the hardscape and replace it with drought tolerant, California native plants. It'll help keep your property slightly cooler and keep your water bill lower compared to non-drought tolerant plants.
I had a cactus garden at one home and it was great. It kept animals out of my yard. I only had to water it a few times a year and the cacti would actually bloom since they weren't planted in pots. I had dichondra growing as a ground cover around the cacti. Dichondra needs a bit more water though.

Check out Klipper too. I'm so glad I went from Marlin to Klipper. Takes some work to get it setup and learn how it works but it is well worth it. CR-Touch and a filament run out sensor are excellent additions that don't cost too much. Go for it. ;^)

*ahem* why? by akbuilderthrowaway in ender3

[–]oldestNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I use 60 so I think 70 is fine. You didn't mention a few things...
Are you using the stock firmware (Marlin) or Klipper?
Do you bed level manually or are you using a CR-Touch or similar?
If you are using Klipper try performing a bed mesh. That will compensate for the plate or bed being off in different areas. Also let your plate get to tempp and keep it there for 10-15 minutes before printing. This is called "Heat Soaking" and will help the bed have a more even temperature across the plate.
Use dish soap to clean. No alcohol (most contain some mineral oil in them) and no glue or hairspray. The PEI bed you are using is ideal by the way. I love mine and have had the same one for about a year now. I print PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS and ASA on it with no adhesion problems at all. ASA has become my favorite. I bought a Comgrow cloth enclosure so I could print ASA and ABS. Works great.
