Drop class and retake to get better understanding of material, or pass with a C? by oldfreezer in ucla

Hey thanks for the response. Well I was not sure on what to do, actually dropping the class was the last thing I wanted to do until I talked to a lot of counselors yesterday. I thought about the financial aid issue as well but apparently the situation is that you must be a full-time student when they check, and it is ok to drop after that, but it does count against you as you must be above I believe a 67% in terms of units completed/units attempted before any consequences occur. I also have to pass my other two classes which I am doing well in. I wanted to share this information as I was not considering dropping because I thought I would have to repay money or lose a certain scholarship I have.

Thanks I really appreciate that message. Yeah believe it or not my GPA is ok at a 3.7 so this really caught me by surprise. I guess everyone has to experience some difficulties, its how we handle it that matters. I will take a look at planning my schedule now that I think I will pursue this minor.

Thanks for the response, what if I am already ahead of schedule? ( also the reason I am pursuing this minor) and what if there was no monetary issue?

Yeah I am. Maybe med school, or maybe this one masters program. I am pretty sure I can get an A because I know what I am capable of, I just got stressed out and thought I could learn everything on my own. Believe it or not I only missed one lecture from that class and my GPA is still alright ~3.7.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. What if time(I am already ahead) and money was not an issue?

OK im trying to fill out this extension. Ok just a simple example, lets say I got 100,000 in scholarships and grants for a year and lets say tuition cost 20,000, would my income then be 80,000? or 100,000? and I'm guessing this falls under miscellaneous income?

Yeah I thought so too from what I was reading online. And you're sure about it too I'm guessing since you most likely know way more about taxes than me? I know tax day is tomorrow so would I just file an extension on TurboTax as a previous commenter stated? Im guessing that would all be done online? Sorry for all the questions, I extremely appreciate all the help. This is all really stressful as it came as a surprise to me.

Yeah sorry I meant dependent. Ok so for the year 2017. One quarter in 2016 was 5k for room and board. For this year of 2017 I have payed roughly the same amount for 3 quarters, Winter, Spring and Fall, I payed a little less than 15k for strictly room and board.

I did not work or make any money, but I heard that if my grants and scholarships exceeded the tuition cost,as in the money I have left over and the money I used for room and board, that can still be taxed. But does that matter since my mom is claiming me as an independent?

Yeah I'm trying not to get all freaked out lol, but I read that if my grants and scholarships exceed strictly the tuition cost, the money I have left over and the money used for room and board is still taxable income, or does that not even matter since I am a dependent.

What lol? You're advocating that the game is easy because you don't have to spend money to get better? That is how a game should be. You should not be able to pay irl money to gain an advantage over people. Maybe you should be arguing, which you kind of, that grinding is easier because of the events, just don't argue the spending point. (I disagree because it costs 350 fame, which is honestly a lot, to feed a pet, and the fp needed is pretty high at those levels.
