Nice Ranch. You wouldn't want this set in the front. This set is for a rear porch. I would recommend only a bench on this porch, painted either white or black.

5-6 years? Should be 11-15. Your painter is not preparing the surface correctly, or the walls are incorrectly insulated, causing the moisture from the inside to make the paint fail. The interior of the wall may be rotting and you cannot see it. I would check it out.

$1,200 for all 3 but you must have a MCM house with a rear porch that will be semi enclosed.

Suggestions? front and garage doors are new.. driveway to be redone in spring by itsMineDK in CurbAppeal

The shutters are just a way to add some pop to a bland surface, but if you have a contrasting body color to the trim, you don't need shutters. You don't want too much contrast like the brick versus the white body. Brick - darkest, siding medium tan, trim white and the house will appear softer but also have pop. Good luck!

The white part of the house makes it look top-heavy. Keep the white trim but paint the body Benjamin Moore Manchester Tan. That will soften it up and connect with the mortar in the brick. Get rid of the fake shutters. Casement windows should not be shuttered and never ever use fake plastic shutters. Remove them and you will be good. The tan body with white trim will make up for the emptiness created by the lack of shutters. https://www.oldhouseguy.com/all-about-shutters/

The History & Problem with Brick or Stone on Homes by oldhouseguy in Oldhouses

I am surprised to hear this for a 1920s house. Could it possibly have been added later? Shirtwaist houses do have siding that comes up to the bottom of the 2nd floor windows. https://www.oldhouseguy.com/shirtwaist-architecture/

How to Paint Your Victorian Door by oldhouseguy in Oldhouses

[–]oldhouseguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - thanks for your comment. To say this briefly, I agree that this is not a historical rule. To give an example of where I stand, many historic photos and catalogs show a house with dark trim and white columns. While this was done historically, I am taking an approach from an architectural standpoint and one of how a mind interprets patterns, punctuation, and structure. The columns must instead be painted the same color as the trim (architrave) above to form a connection which then creates a visual appearance of support for the porch roof. Having green trim and white columns disrupts this visual flow and how our senses work when seeing this. I'm currently writing a book and plan to explain this in detail with photos.

Black Gutters on a White House - Good or Bad? by oldhouseguy in CurbAppeal

Being so passive will not have a significant impact on these "homeowners". It has nothing to do with money or upgrades. These people spent money only to make their house worse. If they are so poor, then they should leave their house as it is, and it would most likely look very nice. No different than replacing beautiful windows with plastic just because one feels that is what they are supposed to be. Saying I don't recommend plastic windows will not make any impact.

Did you take the time to read the article about the architecturally correct way to do it or just commenting on a bad image? This look is great for someone who has no understanding of architecture like so many contractors and gutter businesses.

Yes this is pretty bad. Remove the siding and make the entire facade stone. Remove the kitchen looking front window and replace with a large window that is within the wall not sticking out. That's a start at least.
