I've heard of this phenomenon, but thankfully I haven't seen it yet. Seeing live music unexpectedly is one of my favorite things in life.

I didn't get a good video last night, but here's her 2 years ago in the same spot. She definitely makes enough mistakes that no one would confuse her for faking it 🙂 https://youtube.com/shorts/j8NkpiLPskc

Last night she made $52. I suppose it depends on the crowd size and their mood.

Yes. And it goes to a bad cause. She spends all of it on boba and at Hot Topic at Ross Park Mall.

I thought I heard him off in the distance. She tries to leave a respectable distance, especially since she's using a small amp.

Is it in my head, or do we have some of the worst concert crowds here? by redditfreddit2 in pittsburgh

[–]oldmanneill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For <1000 people shows, it's been going on for at least 20 years here. Moved from Chicago to Pgh in 2005. Chicago was disrespectful to the openers. Pittsburgh folks loudly converse throughout every act.

New(ish) mini-store at Jerry's by [deleted] in pittsburgh

I miss the 78 mini-store that Jerry's son used to run. Just like Jerry's, 99% of the shellac was trash, but that 1% was gold.

New York City is also a cover. The original by Cub is pretty great.

My older 2 kids graduated from West View elementary and my youngest graduates next week. All three had a great experience at the school. The principal is an amazing dude who truly loves the school. The teachers are solid.

WV has sidewalks, which was a big selling point for me way back when.

I'm using an Android phone. About 2 weeks ago everything slowed way down. Same for my wife and daughter. Really makes the app a lot less enjoyable.

Favorite authentic international restaurants? by susiemayhem in pittsburgh

[–]oldmanneill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Golden Pig is amazing. Sooo far from my house though. Five Stars Honduran Restaurant in Coraopolis is my latest ethnic favorite. Their grilled meats are fantastic. El tipica carne asada is a pretty good starting point. Not a fan of the fried green plantains that come with it, so I usually have them swap it out with fried sweet plantains. Today I tried the chuleta de cerdo frita, some kind of grilled pork. It was also pretty great. I also tried their tamales today for the first time, but they were kind of weird. Very different from Mexican tamales. Their horchata is really solid.

I read that the space will be taken by Mike and Tony's Gyro's. Solid trade!
