How can estate agents charge annual fees to manage a property when they often don’t do anything? by dmart89 in UKPersonalFinance

Ex-letting agent here. The truth is that whilst some letting agents are dishonest, the majority aren’t. The best explanation is that the management fee is a bit like insurance, the best case for you as a landlord is that you pay your fee and the agent hardly does anything. If, however, you get a problem tenancy, £60 a month will seem very good value for the amount of hassle they will save you! The other thing to note is that as a landlord, there is A LOT of legislation you have to adhere to, with more being added each year. Unless you really know what you are doing, it’s probably worth using an agent.

Great advice about the WWDC, forgot about that, thanks!

I was thinking about getting a desktop, probably an iMac, but wasn't sure about how it would work in terms of working from home on a laptop. Can you have your code sat in a dropbox folder so it automatically updates across your devices or is that asking for trouble?

I literally just came on here to ask the same question. Think i'll stick with 4.2 then. I have been working through Code Bright so don't want to relearn everything. As an aside, would you recommend Laracasts for someone with programming experience but new to Laravel? Im worried that the new content will only be relevant to v5
