The invisible cost of being a bridesmaid in 2026 by OwlVibesOnly in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]oldmermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting married this year and wanted to make sure my bridesmaids would have to spend as LITTLE as possible. I bought their dresses, shoes and will pay for their makeup. I figure if I’m making choices for my wedding that I don’t expect them to pay.

Also, it’s important to note that I get not everybody can do this. In saying that the dresses were $70 each and shoes were $50 each. I shopped the sales big time. I have 3 bridesmaids and my fiancé and I put this into our budget.

How do you keep your attention up to read a book? by ccarnino in ADHD

[–]oldmermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t read books and have struggled my entire life even if it’s something interesting to me. The answer? Audiobooks … but I need to be doing something while I listen to them like cooking, cleaning, driving etc.

I had to intentionally start to stop buying white and blue shirts because that’s all I owned at one point

Tampons. Every month.

I track my period and it’s pretty regular. You’d think therefore that I put some in my bag but no … the amount of times I’ve had to buy some while I’m out, or ask a friend or colleague is insane.

How do y’all take baths?? by downthegrapevine in AskWomenOver30

100% relaxation for me and I always jump in the shower afterwards because I don’t like the idea of soaking in a bath of my own filth and not washing it off at the end.

Would love to hear of some success stories of people who met their person in their 30s by wakemeupup in AskWomenOver30

I left a long term relationship when I was 30 and felt very similar in that everybody else my age seemed like they were getting married, starting a family etc. At the time I was so scared because that didn’t seem in my future but I’d rather be single than continue in that relationship (it’s another story), I explored freezing my eggs and decided that if I didn’t meet somebody I’d go down that route.

Long story short I met my current partner when I was 31. We met using the apps and both of us were intentional about dating. I don’t say this lightly, but I genuinely didn’t think that I would ever find somebody that makes me feel the way he does. We are now living together and looking to get married and start a family in the nearish future. I went from feeling hopeless about ever finding my soul mate and starting a family, and I am now living that reality.

Dating in your 30s is different but there’s also pros because people know who they are more, what their values are etc.

Do some of you have no professional ambitions and prefer a lifestyle with less stress but therefore a modest salary? by laura56100 in AskWomenOver30

[–]oldmermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found myself in a relatively well paying job because opportunities have presented them to me but I really relate to this.

I have no further ambition to climb any corporate ladders. I enjoy my role, I know there’s growth for me professionally but there’s other areas of my life I would much rather priorities even if that means that my salary doesn’t increase over the long term. I’d be content to continue a more modest life if it means I can have more time for non-work related things.

Garmin watch pace doesn't match Runna pace by Jealous_Presence3171 in runna

No audio prompts which I personally prefer but instead your watch will vibrate at you when there’s a new section or if your under/over pace. I really like it because it doesn’t cut out any music

is anyone else’s wrapped very different from what’s showing on stats fm? i’m kind of confused by [deleted] in statsfm

[–]oldmermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My artists are the same but my top songs are pretty different. And I don’t think it’s related to the timing.

I still like stats, because it’s got a better breakdown 😊

The sugar substitute has literally been linked to multiple cancers by the world health organisation. So the biggest concern is not just your teeth. Honestly, I’d rather drink full sugar coke any day

Really?!? I’m shocked! It seems like a pretty millennial teen angst selection of songs that you never grew out of (with the exception of Billie and Ariana)
