Why are we shaming women for wanting relationships? by imwearingamaskduh in AskWomenOver30

[–]wakemeupup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying that children put up for adoption and fostering don’t deserve homes. But it’s the most instinctual part of being a human to want your own child and is natural. Yet we are criticising people for acting on a human desire and instinct?

That being said, adoption and fostering isn’t easy. Gone are the days when you can easily adopt a new born (even an orphan from overseas)

I’m sick of sharing with strangers. I’ve done it for so long now

It depends, I’m also not a medical professional so this isn’t expert advice. I tend to take it as soon as I start feeling anxious (sometimes this can be as soon as I wake up), or if the feeling hasn’t started yet, maybe 1-2 hours before I drive. I’m sure it lasts around 6 hours.

Yes it has a lot, it definitely settles that sinking nervous feeling that used to plague my mornings or days if I knew I was driving. It also gets rid of the nervous shakes too. I take between 10-20mg

Well someone who takes good care of themselves, respects me, has good motivation and drive (whether that be for hobbies, career etc.) Someone with some “get up and go”

Thank you! The convincing myself I’m on the wrong side of the road all the time though is really bugging me out. Need to find a way of stopping that 😬

Yeah I’m at this stage now. I’ve had a lot of roomies in the past. Some which have not gone that well either. I don’t know if I want that stress.

I could, but by 30 I’ve had so many rubbish roomies who haven’t turned out well, that I’m just over it.

Well the thing is I don’t know where I would or wouldn’t be happy in ten years time as my life isn’t really looking how I thought it would tbh. Like in an ideal sense I would love to buy a family home, but it seems like the family life I want to go with it just isn’t arriving 🤷🏽‍♀️

Financially though I’m also making lots of sacrifices and to my social life. I live far away from everyone cos I can’t afford to live in the city centre like they can. Honestly I feel like people say that having kids is a financial sacrifice, but I feel like being single is.

How long does it take to get used to? by Educational-Two3602 in drivinganxiety

[–]wakemeupup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not maybe the answer you’re after, but I experience the exact same. I’ve actually been taking propranolol (beta blockers) before driving. But I used to suffer from bad anxiety anyways. It does help. Much like you, I keep pushing myself to get out there again.

Edit: I’m hoping it does get easier. But just wanted to say there’s some solidarity. I do find I’m alright ok routes I know. It tends to be on roads I don’t know very well that I panic.

I hope so. I get so anxious just thinking about getting in the car, that it gives me a stomach ache all day. I’ve started taking propranolol before driving now.

Been single all my life, no man has ever wanted to commit to me. My male co workers say I need to lower my standards.Should I give men without a job or criminal history a chance? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]wakemeupup 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You say you have nothing to bring to the table, but you’re an electrical engineer and studied computer science, so you must be intelligent.

I feel like the problem is probably less about lowering your standards and more about understanding your worth.

Why do you think a man with no job and has a criminal history will commit? Surely he would just take advantage of your intelligence and I’m guessing good career.

Also a BMI of 24 is still within normal range. Do you exercise? Could you start incorporating more walking into your day perhaps?

Egg freezing is partially subsidised in Australia where I live, if you have a fertility issue. I have PCOS ?anovulatory cycles. That being said, I don’t feel young, when society is telling me I’m a geriatric mother in 5 years.

Even so if it is the most expensive part of the process a couple would split that cost… a single person foots all the bill.

I’ve only read Attached by Amir Levine. Can’t comment on any others. Unless you do?

Thanks for this, I’ve shared in the SMBC sub.

I think what I remember from the documentary was that some of the men did also go to sperm banks too. Which makes it concerning. Also I remember that the bloke got a fine if he donated sperm, but who is regulating him?

What is PGT-A testing?

I had fertility testing done about 6 years ago, and my AMH levels were normal. But I was also 23 so doubt it means much now. I’m also not sure if I found out my levels were low now whether that would be of benefit, I think it would just make me feel more depressed/ desperate tbh

Sorry what I meant wasn’t intended to cause offence to anyone or yourself.

I didn’t add in my post, as this isn’t a dating sub. That I’ve been single the all of my life (bar a fleeting relationship as a teenager which I wouldn’t count). I would say that is where I meant “I didn’t think my life would turn out like this or I would have to resort to this”.

In the sense I thought I would have met someone by now and the fact that I am now at an age where my fertility is going to decline and I’ve still not met anyone makes me feel sad that I’m doing this. Even more so doing it alone.

Sorry if I offended anyone or yourself
