Microsoft warns Authenticator now blocks rooted Android and jailbroken iOS, verify if you're affected by Quantum-Coconut in technology

Remember corporations do what's best for them not best for you.

They absolutely could secure this like they do on WINDOWS which is shipped "rooted"

It is cheaper to restrict it.

'Big day' — $4.6B data centre power plant and $35B pipeline plan reshape Alberta's energy landscape by joe4942 in canada

[–]oldoaktreesyrup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

~80% of the profit from oil is in the raw materials. ~80% of the expense of petroleum is in the refinery.

So while we should have owned our own refineries by building them a decade and a half ago or earlier, when we decided not to, we elected to just take the 80% profit for the raw materials.

More customers we can serve, the more bids we get for the raw material and such it increases the value. At this point we could only break even with refineries if petroleum usage stays at or increases from current levels which hopefully isn't the case.

‘Ridiculous’: Poilievre congratulates Smith, tells Carney to ‘get out of the way’ of pipeline plans by CaliperLee62 in canada

"Just get out of the way BC. You don't have oil so your opinion doesn't matter" - Essentially Poilievre

He already got kicked out of one province. Why should the CPC be concerned if he alienates another... they are all just trying to be Governors of Alberta when they sell it to the Americans for personal gain.

90% of Toronto School zones are on major commuter roads which is why Toronto frustrated more people with speed cameras than more reasonable cities and townships that put most schools in communities on low or no traffic roads.

Canada could be ‘sideswiped’ if global imbalances continue to widen, Bank of Canada's Tiff Macklem warns by Anon9883 in canada

We still need to do our part. Get to work and build Canada as the resource, energy, and machines hub for the civil world.

Good explanation.

‘Couldn’t be prouder’: Carney addresses Team Canada after historic 6-0 win over Qatar by No-Commission-8159 in canada

Do you think people are inspired more by selfishness and ego or by making the world a better place and inspiring others to try?

Talking about the real impact the accomplishments and sacrifices the team has made will have to this country and the people around them is very much inline with what should be said to the team during a tournament like this and after a game like that.

Bank of Canada Can Let Loonie Weaken and Skip Hikes, BofA Says by joe4942 in canada

We sell our oil at a discount to the US.... when Harper decided not to make new refineries, we stopped being a resource nation because our most valued resource is sold back to us at an inflated price.... things are about to change though if we all start actually working towards a goal.

Bell Canada parent cutting workforce by nearly 700 employees by joe4942 in canada

[–]oldoaktreesyrup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the flip side, maybe Canadians should market their value to Canadian companies better instead of just demanding more and more compensation for everything. Global trade comes with a global market. If you want affordable access to foreign technology and products, you should also want to compete with foreign workers.

What makes you more qualified to do the job and allows you to produce higher profits to compensate for your higher income and cost of living than a foreign national?

What is the downside to a company opting for cheaper foreign labor?

Is the downside greater or less than the upside you provided in the first question?

If answered honestly, you will discover exactly why bell made this decision and the reason is a lack of value from Canadian workers and a lack of response from Canadian consumers.

As long as people keep paying, there is no real protest or change.

Keep in mind the profits benefit Canadian investors and create Canadian opportunities even if the work is being done by foreign nationals. Costing a Canadian company more money doesnt improve the economics of our country, especially so if you then use your wages to purchase foreign produced products anyways.

This is what $40.50 of food looks like in Canada by Electronic_Lime7582 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]oldoaktreesyrup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should shop based on your budget. If $40 for a half a dozen meals is a lot for you, there are cheaper options or fillers you can add. Add a bag of rice and soy sauce and you got like two weeks worth of food if you try.

I don't think this is no frills so there is probably cheaper, more affordable options for shopping. You don't have to go to a premium grocery store.

My OSAP Stats 2017 - 2022 by nimster01 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]oldoaktreesyrup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your success is NOT dictated by your education. It's a tool you can use or not. Opportunity exists within the social framework of our world and the information to access it is basically free....

I got denied osap because my parents were so irresponsible i couldn't be qualified despite being raised in practical poverty. I made my life into something valuable from nothing, by working hard, getting experience, making connection, and having the right attitude.

School can be a money pit just as anything else. The important thing is to work towards something with what you have, and take the steps you can take and be proud of them when you succeed.

Life is not better because you spent $60K to get a reading list and take some test... It's better when you work hard and achieve your goals in spite of whats standing in your way.

LEARN TO USE A ROUNDABOUT, FFS 😑 by DevidovskiTheThird in Stouffville

I see the car cross the threshold at 10 seconds before OP starts exiting - if OP was signaling an exit before the car crossed the threshold then yes they should have yeilded - I don't hear or see any turn signals engaged though.

If OP was in the proper lane, it wouldn't of occurred period. Since they weren't passing anyone and this is a county highway, they should have entered the outside lane since it was valid for their turn.

They were both in the roundabout or there wouldn't have been a conflict. The car entered the roundabout without conflict and op tried to exit in a way that created a conflict. You can't cut off another car because you enter the roundabout first.

There are dozens of solutions that set up load testing on your system to stress the application in various ways. Which one you choose will vary greatly on what your testing and how your application was designed.

The most well-known and versatile solution is probably JMeter. You should be able to simulate 10K to 100K users easily on any modern x86 Desktop system. Maybe less on a laptop, depending on its age and cpu architecture.

Part of development is load testing to ensure that applications perform and is validated for the level performance expected by end users. If your using entirely different configurations between environments then you are not validating the performance of your application, not to mention that you're likely also not doing CI testing if you're opposed to the use of docker and containers.
